15 September 2011 at 2:56 pm #71343No the Raj is not a takeaway place. It is for eating in. Trust me i love Indian food and have been to probably nearly all in the Wigan area. I have had a takeaway from there myself and it is a very half hearted attempt, However when you go in the food is the best thing in the world, The service is excellent, Beer is also excellent and ignore JamesC, It is like a palace inside. He obviously hasn’t been.
I lived next to The Raj it for 20 years. I have been. It may be decent(ish) inside but it is situated in a dump and is a dump from outside.

You see up until 2 months ago i lived there for many years too but i thought around 20 years ago it was a petrol station, In fact i think around 10 years ago it had only just ceased to be a petrol station and still had a big canopy on the car park. Baffles me how it can be called a dump after some of the suggestions in this thread. The only gripe i could have with it, And this is scraping the barrel for me is that there isnt all that much room inside but i dont think i have been to an indian that has bags of room anyway. You always seem to be cramped in an indian gaff even when there is room. Too much food for the size of the tables.
