Please give me your opinions and thoughts.

I’ve had enough. Of the club, the nonsense, the absolute bullshit. I feel like I have been conned out of my money for my season ticket. Feel like I purchased it under mis-representation.

What are my chances of contacting the club and getting some kind of refund? Obviously don’t expect a full one, several games into it. But just a pro-rata refund, so I can cancel my Season Ticket and literally walk away from the club. I’d rather go to sporadic games at other North West clubs than endure any more of this shite. Its getting me down that much, I had a belt in my hand the other day and started thinking of other uses for it… Going the match is supposed to be ‘fun’ and entertainment. It really isn’t. It’s a complete and utter shitshow. And its going to get worse.

What do you think? If I contact the club will they even entertain me? When its getting me down that much, Id sooner walk away and draw a line under it all. Starting to actually hate the club… so there we are.

If you’ve paid in full up front then you have little to no hope of getting anything back.

If you are paying through installments then cancel the payments and at least you will have only lost a % of the total cost.

I get that you have had enough and so have I, but then I think back to the pre-DW days and remember that had he not pumped millions in, we would probably never seen top flight football, let alone lift the FA Cup and go on a European tour.  I enjoyed it whilst it was there, but at least I got to enjoy it, unlike fans of many similar sized clubs who have spent 50 years plodding around the lower leagues watching their team simply because they didn’t get an owner with deep pockets.

I can sympathise with you views Vat. 52 years for me…..struggle sometimes to motivate myself to go. I suppose not wanting to disappoint my 2 granddaughters who are oblivious to the shit show the club is and love going to games both at home and away when possible. Now we hear the “one month in office” Ceo has bailed out just puts the cherry on top. Hes smelt the wilting roses. This sustainability buzzword is a f######## crock of shit. Nearly all owners of EFL clubs have to dip into their stash at some point…….virtually none survive on their own revenue stream. As a successful businessman I’m staggered he’s dumped us in this state…..no assets, no ground…….the only surefire way to increase people through the turnstiles, revenue and make us attractive to any potential buyers is success on the pitch. League 2 goes totally against that. That’s where we are….he’s no interest, hasn’t even met the manager (mindnumbing)…won’t invest any meaningful dosh in the squad . Wont include the ground in any potential sale.Never did i envisage when he bought us we would be in this sorry state and the killer for me is this total silence which fuels the rumour mill…..just one ignorant man.

Totally agree with the above sentiments , I pay as I go now as I’d had issues getting to the many night games that spring up through the season.
I feel the same way and worry about the future because from what I can see all the sellable assets have gone and I only see rapid decline now.

Reminds me of the early 1990s with one difference , the owners at that time genuinely had very little personal money but always tried to scrape together funds to invest In the odd player and with significantly less footfall  on matchdays.

without any investment on the pitch then we have had it.

Feel very sorry for the die hard supporters and I will continue to go but I really fear for the future of this fine club I really do.

Without a doubt  these for me are among the darkest times this club is facing  in its near 100 year history.

And probably the wealthiest owner the club has ever had makes it even more gut wrenching!!!

Thanks for the understanding and sympathetic replies. I actually expected some stick. So really, thanks very much.

Its bad when its getting everyone down so much.

I think the owners 30 odd years back were called Gage and Bittell and a local man  Stan Jackson was also involved at the time and they did their very best on 1500 crowds and a crumbling Springfield park.

From my memory they managed to scrape together around £32,500 to buy midfielder Ian Kilford from Nottingham Forest which was a rare event for Latics at the time but Killers fine input kept the club from the non league trapdoor.

Heroes all in my opinion and even more so looking back now , hearts in the right place and kept the club going until Mr Whelan came in on his white charger.

                  Fine people all .

If I were a successful businessman and I’d installed a man at the forefront of on of my businesses I’m sure in over 3 years id have found time to sit down with him and listen. As well as communicating with the supporters rather than a prepared statement only released when our undercover sale was leaked. Totally unacceptable!!!!…..He may own our club as far as legal documentation goes but he doesn’t own mine/,our lifetime emotional commitment……………thats what this guy doesn’t get.

Thats right, Stephen Gage and Nick Bitel. Stan Jackson…Jonathan’s dad, was club President. It was he who went and knocked on Whelan’s door to ask if he could help with the monthly wage bill, as they were struggling to pay it. So he paid the wage bill. Soon after, he thought ‘I may as well buy the club’, and the rest is history.

We’ve never been right since the day the Whelan family sold us and severed ties.

That meeting tonight sounds like it answered nothing, really. Its alright Caldwell making a few jokes and that to lighten the mood a bit…and it was a really awkward set up tonight with the CEO leaving and Danson Jr not really giving answers. At the end of the day, if we carry on how we are doing, GC might not be so jokey, come December.

None of them seem to get the basic thing that until we improve on the pitch, are winning a few games and providing entertainment, the attendances will NOT go up. It’s as simple as that. Casual floating supporters are not going to turn up and pay £25 or £27 to watch that whats being churned out. Can’t blame people.

I understand where you are coming from, but for me Latics have been a massive part of my life for over 50 years. I have missed weddings, funerals and birthday parties following them around the country and one season abroad. Ive watched them through good times and bad times, but every time its been bad, I have stuck by them. Its like a football marriage and I don’t intend getting divorced. This last 4 or 5 years its been hard, on one occasion I actually went home before the kick off because a certain player was in the team again and I and many others thought he was stealing a place.

Its at times like this the club needs our support its easy supporting a winning team but no so, a team like we have at the moment. I hate the Dansons with a passion, yes they saved us from going under, but the underlying reasons for this has become very clear. In Gary Caldwell we have a manager who loves the club and is trying with the cards he has been dealt to try and turn our fortunes around.

TBH Dave I have known you a long time and I’ve lost count of the number of times you have said you have done with them, only to see you back making comments about the current talking points season after season. I will die owning my seat in the West Stand, nobody will get that as long as I’m alive and well enough to get myself to the ground. I have enjoyed watching my team rise from non-league football to the dizzy heights of the EPL and FA Cup winners. If the next journey is a reversal of that so beit.  All we can do is keep turning up, get behind the team on the pitch at kick off time and hope that things change for the better. UTFT! 💙🤍

Totally get and respect your loyalty mate but for me that is what the ownership are preying on, these lot have took the piss more than any other owners in our history.

                          Fuck the EFL

                            Well, its got this bad….

I’d been considering going to a game at either Deepdale or Ewood Park, today.

I didn’t go to either in the end, but I seriously considered doing. Why? Just to watch a game….maybe even enjoy it. Also, a higher, better level of football. £15 it was to get in at Deepdale. They sold out.

Ive never in my 40 years of going ever considered going somewhere else to try and ‘enjoy a game’. Thats how bad its got. Ive been to random games in the past at places, but just with friends for something to do. Not to seek more enjoyment than I get from my own club.

John, believe me, these lot will NOT be getting any more money off me. Forked out for me and the eldest lad for this season, which I massively regret now. As Ive said, if I could get a partial refund, Id walk away. But I cant. So you’re all stuck with me until May!

I really don’t like our club very much right now. The old Latics died in 2020. This is just a shell. Same badge, same stadium, but nothing else. There’s no soul to the club anymore.

And yes, Ive seen plenty of tough and hard times, I never missed a game in the years 1992-95, which were really bad. I started going in 86 and went many years without missing a game. Ive put relationships, family events and holidays behind following Latics.

Now? No. Me and the lad have an agreement. “2 down, we walk”. Or if he puts Chris Sze on, we walk. Seriously. Or any other bizarre piece of tactical genius he might show. Can guarantee Weir and Power will stay on though.

Owners are shit. I need not elaborate.

Manager is shit. Hes as bad as the owners. But hes also had his hands tied, as did Maloney and Lowe. But he’s still assembled an absolutely shite side. And put all his faith in Perkins to become another Wareham? Absolutely deluded. Wasn’t a fan the first time. Still feel the same.

Ive a season ticket but will be joining the many who are not even turning up shortly I think. Its depressing me going. When its getting you down as much as it has been me, it might be better to stop going.

Unless things change massively, Latics wont exist in 2 years time. Carry on as we are, they’ll only be opening the West stand, come Christmas.

                            Dire. Strolling to relegation.
