Did you know that out of the 45 goals we have conceded, 10 of those have been in the final 5 mins of a half ( 5 between 40-45 mins and 5 between 85-90 mins ) Also that 26 of the goals leaked have come in the 2nd half, 18 of those being conceded in the final 3rd of the game ! Perhaps these basic shortcomings should be addressed ?

22 February 2011 at 1:14 pm #60227I’m sure the club’s analysis person had picked up on this. If not, maybe you could apply…..Maybe I should apply but I doubt very much that there is such a position filled at WAFC ! So Standish are you happy with the fitness levels of our ” Top Flight ” players ?
PS Please try to refrain from being sarcastic in your reply !

22 February 2011 at 2:15 pm #60236Fil, I would have been very surprised if there wasn’t such a position, as virtually every professional football or rugby club has at least one analyst these days.
I don’t really have any thoughts on fitness levels to be honest, because I don’t know what to gauge it against. Apart from Diame, rarely have I seen any of the players looking like they’re breathing out of their arrsse, so if they’re conceding in the last minute of a game, it could still be down to lack of concentration rather than fitness. If the question is, am I happy that so many goals are conceded in the final few minutes of a game? No, I’m not.
No sarcasm intended in any of this post….

I’ve found a recent study of when goals are scored – http://www.sjss-sportsacademy.edu.rs/ar … archive/44
It doesn’t show the 5 mins breakdown but the other figures are very close.
22 February 2011 at 3:45 pm #60238We have a Pro Zone analyst. (Or at least we DID)
His name is/was Jamie Roberts.
Must be a good job that, being paid to watch games again and take note of how many passes, corners, fouls, etc. Not sure what the pay would be like, but I admit I wouldn’t mind doing that for a job.
Unless it was £6.50 an hour, that is.

Oh, I don’t know. It’s just the job for you VAT. A nice little earner to supplement your singing career.

Would have had the easiest of jobs against Bolton. Ticking the incomplete passes box was all that was required.
