Our wages seem to be a good topic, with some thinking its a Whelan subsidy. We have 26 players, with according to DW, ”£20,000 is not an option for Wigan Athletic” when speaking of a possible Owen move. But we will give the benefit of the doubt and say our top earners are on 20k. If all were on 20k, we would be talking £27m, leaving £13m for the remaining bills. But what wages do we think this lot are on?

In reality, our players wage bill is closer to £10m, leaving £30m for remaining bills. And lets not forget, this is just Sky money, all others like advertising, prize money, sponsorship etc goes on top of that. Then theres the millions in player sales. So last season, were talking about £70m after players wages. Take the blinkers off and you will see our directors and one in particular is doing very nicely out of us whilst investing nothing.Everyone seems to think we have a Midas touch when buying and selling. We have made as many bad purchases so try to take that into account, people like agahowa, johanson and his tall central defender mate from Sweden. Fitz Hall and don’t forget how much are we going to lose on King and Koumas. The only reason we still have them is that we paid too much and their wages are too good and no one is stupid enough to match them. The list is longer.
why do most posters on here claim to a)know what our players earn b) know what we spend income on c) blame everything on dave whelan?
no one on here knows for sure what each player earns and knows anything about how the clubs finances are distributed, we dont know what income we get from sponsers etc and the only income we roughly know is the sky £40m which seems to be spouted from the media. So unless we find this out stop claiming crap after 5 games of the season.
Yeah were all disappointed about the players that have left but valencia, heskey and palacios all moved to bigger clubs with better prospects, fact.
We have to be optimistic yes but also realistic.
In the Guardian report it states that the wages at Wigan Athletic as proportion of turnover is 89%.That as a business is unsustainable.
It also says we pay higher wages than Sunderland. Think that says it all dont you?

Whelan did not invest anything from 1995-2008 did he. We were not in the premier league for 9 years with Whelans money, do you think this was free money or should it be paid back you retard.
