Di Santo not playing in a team that struggles to score goals and Bob doesn’t pick a striker to replace him we get Gomez.
WTF :woohoo:

24 September 2012 at 1:10 am #93667Di Santo not playing in a team that struggles to score goals and Bob doesn’t pick a striker to replace him we get Gomez.Did you watch a different game to me Hindley?
He was moved into the middle to replace Di Santo and Gomez took Kone’s place.
24 September 2012 at 1:49 am #93668Any Gomez bashing this season is not due in my opinion as he has had a fairly good start and is one of the more calming influences in the team.
If I had to pick a major criticism from yesterday it was the corners.
There has to be someone in the team who can kick a ball into the area!!!
It does not have to be whipped in at 100 mph or curled onto someones head at the near post!
Just hit so it drops into the box just far enough so the keeper does not come out for it.
Simples.
All in all its not been a bad start plenty of teams looking worse than us this season who will hopefully prop us up for a nice mid table finish.

I am in no way a Gomez basher but when he took the shot on in the first half when Maloney was in a better position to score did me yed in
24 September 2012 at 3:22 am #93685Thought Gomes played ok yesterday. He picked out some good passes and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet…
24 September 2012 at 1:50 pm #93695I also think Gomez had a decent game but Watson ? What does RM see in him ? Every man and his dog can see that the lad is clearly out of his depth but he still persists with him ! The last 2 home games have been below par in my opinion and we should have had at least four points from them and not just the one. The likes of Stoke, Fulham and other sides of that ilk at home should be our steady supply of all important survival points ! Good job Southampton were slow out of the traps !

As it is, 3 down … took 4 points off next two up, Sunderland (A) and Everton (H) last year …. tricky (Fletcher on fire, Everton quick out the traps for once)

You could play Gomez there but like you and others I thought he had a decent game almost bagging a goal.
Maloney didnt do much for me at all and it will be interesting to see how the 2nd string get on in the Wet Spam game tomorrow.
Another performance like the one in the previous round and we will have some serious contention for places on our hands!!
Young Fyvie is yet to make an impression and is probably seen as Watson’s replacement (cant see him signing a new contract) so hopefully he can get a bit of game time under his belt.
24 September 2012 at 2:39 pm #93704You could say that the excuses are already in place for the next two fixtures should we do badly. Sunderland- Always a tricky away fixture. Everton-Have beat Utd and are playing really well. There will always be excuses if the glass is half full !

Sudworth I knew Di Santo was injured, the point I was making was that if a striker does not play put another striker on in his place. That would make a lot more sense than playing an extra midfielder don’t you think???
