As it’s the international weekend and no Latics, or, guess the gate competition, I’d like to pitch a question to everyone.

If you were our new manager, what would you do?

This is open to on and off the pitch, behind the scenes, sensible or not so sensible.

      To kickstart

Dunkley and Kipre to never be on the pitch at the same time
Resurrect Bobby Campbell and play 442
Get the team to whip crosses in earlier, before the opposition gets 8 men back in the box
Abolish green from any of our kits
Organise a free bus between Wigan Central and DW on match day’s
Bring back the pea supper pie but twice the size
Serve gin n tonic in the summer and whiskey chasers in the winter from all the concourse bars

      Edwards out!

Basics, let full backs be defenders along with the centre backs and cut out the balls from the flanks. Play with pace and width down the flanks without using said full backs give Moore a helping hand, a partner play it neat and tidy not over complicated and most of all don’t expect players on 5 grand a week to perform like world class players on 250 grand plus.

Bring back wintergreen and leather Casey’s, rattles and rosettes, all blue shirts and white shorts, silk scarves and parallel kecks, green cord bomber jackets with smiley patches

But I’ll settle for decent attacking football like it used to be.

Would anyone put a cheeky bid in for Harry Kane?

Thought not, we wouldn’t need him

I’d teach Beausajour how to do throw-ins.
I’d never let Ben Watson take another corner.
I don’t want Harry Kane because when we beat Oxford 7 – 0 I felt sorry for them
I’d do 2 weeks intensive training on effective corner taking.
I’d say sorry to MAF that he never did get a good service up front; he was let down and the club are really sorry about that.
I’d make Boyceeeeee ageless and get him back.
I’d install VAR and promote it as a good thing.
I’d install solar powered seat warmers in ES7 at the very least.
          I’d try not to worry.

Other than that nothing needs changing.

Im with Nuneaton on all his wise words there. Bring back fun and enjoyment. We could enjoy losing at one time when we looked like we were having a go at sides but this last 14/15 months with a terrible win ratio as also been probably the drabbest period of football I can remember. Certainly akin to the Joyce era if not worse.

442, or a better organized 433 system which switches between both, and 451 when defending.
              Full backs as full backs.
Wide players who get to the byline and get crosses in.
Emphasis on pass and move, playing at a high tempo.
January transfer window would see me after at least one ‘out and out’ winger, in the style of Gary Teale. A natural left foot wide player for the left flank.
Mix up play, pass and move when possible, with freedom to go long and direct at right opportunity.
Jamie Jones would get a chance.
So would Charlie Jolley and Jensen Weir.
              Joffy would get more opportunity.
Gary Roberts would come on from the bench.
We would be a threat at set pieces, as we would work on them a lot in training.

Don’t we have the best record in the division from set pieces? It’s the only time we score.

After a morning review, some good points but your all for the chop, especially you gg!

As I’m too young, when did silk scarves first appear?

Christ Edward’s lad you haven’t had the pleasure of silk scarves spose not it was a seventies thing and the letters on the poxy things faded and if mum was gawpy enough to try and iron one it just welded to the iron . Oh those glory days when Sammy emblazoned the silk scarf and knock kneed chicken was the chant. Football was great then before we had sweepers and the dreaded wing backs when a diamond formation was what our Maude was hoping to get for Xmas. And the xmas tree was just that a bloody tree. Those days may be gone but the memories of how good football was to watch back then will live on.

Thanks Nuneaton. My dad got me a silk scarf at the start of our first league season, a white one with “Latics” on one side and “we are the champions” (I think) on the other. I never knew they went back to the Sammy Seal days as that was well before my time. What was Sammy Seal all about? I’ve seen him on old programmes and I know LHL loves him.

I’ll bring back fun, there is not enough grumpiness
                      I’ll make Edwards manager
I’ll issue flares to under 18 yr olds at the turnstiles
I’ll issue silk scarves to all those over 63.
                      and
I’ll ‘cook the books’ to ensure I get at least 1 point on ‘guess the gate’ before the end of the season. Relegation fills me with doom and gloom.

Ok gg, the board gives the “vote of confidence” you get one more game.
5-0 win away to Stoke or your on your bike!

He sounds like a true great from our history, you need a pie at this time.

Just think. In years to come grown men will be getting misty eyed about Crusty the Pie!!
