When we are eventually out of Europe does anyone think Coyle will finally start to choose a starting eleven and stay with it or will he stay with this rotation nonsense?
29 November 2013 at 12:03 pm #123994I would suggest we will see a settled 11. Im by no means his biggest fan but to suggest he hasnt had a tough start with the sheer volume of games and new players would be wrong. Cant believe people cant see its going to be a blessing in disguise to get knocked out of Europe. It cant be our priority and should be seen for what it is: a bit of fun.
That said we have been unlucky. Not a chance did they deserve to win last night and in both games against Kazan we should have got more than a single point following two decent displays. Its bloody frustrating watching us without a striker that poses a threat but again to be fair to Coyle how many of us thought Holts signing was gonna work out like this? I for one expected him to dominate in this league and cant believe he is as bad as he currently looks.
Most fans seem to forget how bad we were under Martinez at times. On several occasions he would have been sacked at most clubs so Coyle should be afforded at least this season. Bedding in so many players will take time and fans need to stop throwing their dummies out and learn to be patient.

Agree with some of your points Big Lad but last night and not for the first time this season we looked woefully unfit in the last 15 mins we could hardly walk out of our half.So who is in charge of training and fitness?
29 November 2013 at 12:19 pm #123999Could it not be the likes of Barnett, Boyce, Powell and Macmanaman are just knackered from playing two games every week so tire towards the end? We all have this romantic notion of us being in Europe but its for the best we go out asap now to get back to whats important.
29 November 2013 at 12:34 pm #124006We have played 4 games more than other people in our league….apart from Burnley and Leicester who we have played 3 more games than because of their involvement in the league cup..
…so poor excuse really
#coyleout
29 November 2013 at 1:35 pm #1240145 on some with Charity shield. So on many occasions we have had to play twice in a week when they have played once. You cant compare travelling to Russia to playing a league cup game. These arent excuses but facts.
Im no great Coyle fan but squad wise its fair to say he took on a crazy recruitment drive in a short period of time. Carry on with your Coyle out campaign if it lights your candle but dont forget he walked into a squad on their way out despite the fact we won a cup.
29 November 2013 at 2:12 pm #124017Well, lets look at that. We lost 5 players that had some meaning to the team for the FA Cup/Prem:
Kone
Di Santo
Alcaraz – when fit
Figgs
Mccarthy
Roblesin summary, we brought it
Fortune & Holt
Barnett
Shotton
Rogne
Powell
CarsonSo which one of the players we brought into the club is significantly worse than ones which left?
I am not saying we have a much better team now but its not much worse and I didn’t expect to be 13 points behind the top 3 in the championship going into December, playing 4 games more than anyone else in the league should not cause a good team to lose 13 points.
I don’t think it is the players at all. The tactics by this clown are indefensible. How can you change a team so much that used to have about 50 to 60% possession and string more than 2 passes together to a team that has 37% possession at home and hoof the ball? There is no game plan, no plan to keep the ball, players being played out of position, players who should be playing not playing….do I need to go on?
When Bob first got the job, it was plain to see what he was trying to achieve…and it was drab at times, but you could see a plan and what he was trying to build…can you honestly say that about Coyle?
Having worked with many Bolton fans, I thought it was sour grapes when Coyle was appointed and Bolton fans were telling me about Coyle being a poor manager due to a lack of plan, players out of position, no real tactic….Hard to prove them wrong at the moment isn’t it.
I cant see what good it will be keeping Coyle. We will finish the season in the bottom half and then watch the players leave the club.
29 November 2013 at 2:46 pm #124020Kone different class to Holt and Fortune. Thats why so many Premier league teams wanted him.
Di Santo though not great was an Argentinian international who was at least mobile.
Alcaraz positionally superb but not a million miles better than Barnett
Mccarthy better than any midfielders we have hence why so many were interested, why we received so much money for him and why he is receiving praise at Everton.
Robles one of best upcoming Spanish keepers versus player who was deemed not good enough to play in Prem and as we have seen in games is prone to errors.
Figgy miles better than current left back. Shotton pretty woeful with ball but ok at centre half. Thats why hes being released at Stoke.
Powells half decent but wont play at United. Maloneys been badly missed for sure.
We never scored many under Bobby and dont now. Coyle inherited a team that was used to losing games and had spent years in bottom 4. Hardly a team on the up. Im not saying I expected to be 13 points behind but have these other teams sold 15 million pounds worth of players replacing em with freebies? If they hadnt been on frees Figgy and Alcaraz wouldnt have gone cheap. Have other teams brought as many as we have in with the extra games on top? Its been hard to build consistency.
29 November 2013 at 2:56 pm #124021I think you should take a look here ;-

I think a loss against Derby and he might be on his Harse come Sunday night.
if Jones at Wednesday is 4/5 Coyle has got to be worth a tenner
which I have done :)
The one thing I’ve noticed is , When Martinez was here there was alot of “for and against” but with Coyle there’s none. If you owned the club would you honestly trust him in Jan with your money ??. Lets hope he acts like he did with Rioch and get’s someone in to clean this mess up.
29 November 2013 at 3:22 pm #124025What is our best starting eleven?
The only way Coyle can keep a settled starting eleven is if that team is successful, i.e. capable of scoring goals.
And he’s got a big squad. If he stops rotating, there will be a lot of unhappy players at the club, in addition to Espinoza.
We’ve got four keepers too. There are going to be some departures.
29 November 2013 at 5:13 pm #124033I would say our best 11 at the moment are:
Nicholls
Barnett rogne shotton
Boyce Beausejour
McArthur Espinoza/Gomez
McManaman McClean
Powell29 November 2013 at 7:14 pm #124039Some things never change.
I reckon I could go back 12 months and find the exact same threads but with the name ‘Roberto Martinez’
29 November 2013 at 10:02 pm #124052I would say our best 11 at the moment are:Nicholls
Barnett rogne shotton
Boyce Beausejour
McArthur Espinoza/Gomez
McManaman McClean
PowellI think you must be Owen Coyle in disguise.
FFS what is wrong with playing with strikers Owen?? -
