I honestly can’t decide.
But I think the problem is a lot more to do with players attitudes. Then again, is that not the managers job to sort out?
Relegation may be a blessing. Clear out the mercenaries, and get some solid pro’s in, like in the style of the promotion side. Hungry players. Not players looking for a move as soon as they’ve signed.
Might be better cutting our losses now, selling any player who someone comes in for at the best price possible, taking the parachute payment, and re-building a strong, battling, squad. Seem to remember Bolton doing similar a few years back. Defeatist? No, just trying to say we’d be better players going now, rather than becoming a bargain-basket in the summer.
I think we’ll know what Whelan is thinking, over the course of the next month.
