Glaringly obvious that’s where we came up short today. Thoroughly enjoyed the game and thought a draw was a fair result but Toney not good enough for me. His movement and positioning poor and gets knocked off the ball far too easily. With Griggs fitness again in doubt then we need to address this whenever possible. Danny Graham was outstanding when he came on ,held the ball up and shielded it superbly and was an example of how to play that role.Credit to Mowbray for his positive substitutions and could have nicked it late on.

I spoke to Will Grigg before the match and he said he is virtually fit and will be back from next week.

Thank goodness but we should have at least one other striker who could slot in when he isn’t playing.

We do donny. His name is noel hunt :)

In all seriousness though. I fully understand what you mean. Same with nathan byrne. As much as i like him as a player, he hasnt really any competition for his place.

Think Byrne is great going forward, but lacks presence defensively.

For a nil nil it was one of the more interesting ones. Thought Dunkley had a good game today. He could be one to watch for the future.

Same here jimmy. MOM for me. A cracking partnership is developing between him & burn.

Glad you think that Runcorn, I put MOM in my initial type & then changed it for sake of flack.
More he plays the better I think he is. He just needs to round them corners off on his head :silly:

It’s amazing how our second blank this season can get people in a tizzy. We have more than adequate forward options with a mixture of young and more experienced heads.
My main concern is with the keeper. Jones does not give me any confidence whatsoever. His first contribution yesterday was to balls up a simple catch in the first 30 seconds. He made at least 3 punches at waist height, WTF. My advice to PC would be to make another keeper the priority in January, if Walton is not over his injury by then.
The defenders in my opinion, are the main reason our goals against column is looking ok. If they weren’t as strong, Jones would be woefully exposed, he looks a diminutive figure in the nets and does not command his area.
I’m not sure who is out there, but there must be somebody better than JJ.

Bit harsh that JR. Agree with you on the strikers options but think Jones has done really well as a back up keeper. All the top teams keepers dont have a lot to do but Sign of a good keeper is they do there job when called upon. Think he’s done that to be honest. Having said that i believe Walton was due back end of November so Jones more than good enough until then.

I’ve been impressed with jones, I was even thinking he may keep his place when Walton was fit. Dont think the keeper position is a problem one for us. I do think we lack a genuinely high quality striker, Grigg is only ok, and toney looks out of his depth. Either of dack or graham from Blackburn would get in up front for us

Grigg will still get 20 this season

Jones is nowhere near as good as Walton and fully expect Walton to come straight back into the first team. Jones doesn’t have a lot to do but when he does he doesn’t instil confidence.

Jamie Jones may not be David de Gae or Petr Cech, but he is certainley better than Bogdan or that Scandinavian bloke from Stoke that we had last season.

It doesn’t matter if he scores 20, 30 or none having him up there in the box enables Powell, Jacobs, Massey and co. to score goals. It’s not so much them supporting him it’s him supporting them.
