Carson
Perch Ramis Boyce Espinoza
McManaman Kvist Maloney
Riera Holt McClean
Could have done it with a line up like this and played week in week out with no changes.
But alas the powers that be know best and relegate us.
Thanks Dave, Uwe and Malky, what a performance. What a shambles.12 April 2015 at 1:41 am #141126McManaman and Maloney (to name just two) had their chances and consistently underperformed because they couldn’t be a**ed playing for us in this division
12 April 2015 at 2:28 am #141128But both good enough on paper to walk a promotion and especially so if managed correctly.
12 April 2015 at 4:29 am #141129Football isn’t played on paper which is why we are where we are as opposed to chasing promotion as we were expected too.
12 April 2015 at 1:35 pm #141135Football isn’t played on paper which is why we are where we are as opposed to chasing promotion as we were expected too. It’s not played on grass either; well, not at our midden anyway.
12 April 2015 at 2:08 pm #141137It’s been a shambles, a decent manager not chopping and changing would have had us close to promotion, with the squad we had. We were favourites for promotion ffs!
The players can’t be arsed argument has never washed with me as the same people saying that, were saying it’s not Malky’s fault he knows what he’s doing, let him have a transfer window and play his own team. Let Whelan/Malky get rid of those who aren’t trying, translated as lets get rid of anybody worth owt. Still can’t believe the majority bought this and then didn’t really blink when Whelan walked away leaving a 23yo in charge without a pot to piss in.Anyway, a new start, not a great start despite more propaganda at a 2-2 result in a game we had to win. Fortune up front on his jack alarms me already.
Roll on Millwall, a win there and we might be looking at a first home win since August come Saturday with confidence brimming. With Rotherham away at Fulham on Wednesday and at home against Norwich in their next 2 games, we’ll see exactly how good our point was on Friday, potentially 1 point behind Rotherham with a slightly better goal difference.
12 April 2015 at 3:51 pm #141139We were just prepared to give Malky time. He had it, he failed. You on the other hand slated him from the off and even if we were safe now you would be for one thing or another.
12 April 2015 at 7:04 pm #141147Malky was on an hiding for nothing. He lost virtually a full squad of established players and players that had never been given a chance. He lost the best the club had and others who had never been given any decent opportunities whatsoever. I don’t think any other manager could have done much better in the circumstances. He gave it a go but I don’t think even Horc could have got us away from Whelan and Uwes mess.
12 April 2015 at 7:32 pm #141148Sunday afternoon supping isn’t good for you Ste ;)
Whichever players Mackay lost, it was only through his own fault ……… but then again, you know that really !
12 April 2015 at 8:49 pm #141150The players Malky/Whelan got rid of in January had done bugger all up until then to make me think we were going to get out of the mire.
No Manager was going to get that lot to perform as a team. Rosler tried and failed this season and so did Mackay, the players were not interested in playing for Wigan Athletic anymore never mind for the Manager.
It was the best decision all round to get shut as they would have been worth a lot less as League One players. We would have got relegated anyway with the way they were performing.
To be fair to the players we brought in, they have been no worse than the ones they replaced and in a few cases they have been better.12 April 2015 at 9:00 pm #141151Football isn’t played on paper which is why we are where we are as opposed to chasing promotion as we were expected too.

And with the fatfucks playing on it today and again on Thursday I can’t see it being too good come Saturday.

To be fair to the players we brought in, they have been no worse than the ones they replaced and in a few cases they have been better.Yep they’d only won us an FA Cup, got us to a semi final of the one the year after and got us into the play offs. By then though Uwe had started fiddling and Malky was already fiddled.
Can see your point though, it wasn’t the manager or the backrooms fault. :woohoo:
If you could name any of those players who are better I’d be delighted to know them, now that we’ve pulled clear of relegation. (Maguire is the only one I could ever see being much cop and he’s proved that).
We’re bombed out as a club but not without hope, we can still do this but we could have done it sooner.13 April 2015 at 1:48 am #141161We were just prepared to give Malky time. He had it, he failed. You on the other hand slated him from the off and even if we were safe now you would be for one thing or another. You gave him time I did too, until after 5 games we played Rotherham at home with no striker on the pitch. We lost and they could turn out to be the biggest lost points of the season.
Congrats on sticking by your man though and assuming on what didn’t happen and never will. -
