Your thank you comes at the beginning of every season when your season ticket falls on yer mat for virtually half the price of other clubs.

Its a great deal which i hope is taken up by all the floaters.
But, for the club to be advertising it as a “thank you to all the Season Ticket holders” is wrong.
A thank you would have been a free ticket for the FA Cup reply against Notts County or even half price.
The offer isn’t rewarding the ST holders, it does seem that sitting on your backside for 8 months of the footy season does get you rewarded by Latics. That said, in fairness to the club, they’re only trying to get bums on seats, though £4 a ticket does seem ridiculous.
Problem the club has is that no matter what they do, we don’t seem to be able to attract the support. Whelan and the board must be sick of our low numbers and must wonder what they have to do. I often hear people say “its too dear” and I despair, I really wonder what people in this town want. Even the shite have to offer free pies etc and still only get 17K on for one of their biggest games. Seems to me that too many people want something for nothing and they’re an embarrassment to those of us that make the effort.
I personally dont want “rewarding”! Niether do i want the club thinking that they are rewarding me.
It would have been better advertised as “We are trying to get more people in”. It would have got more respect.
They cant do right for wrong can they…….. Its a reward to be able to being your friends to the game for a reasonable price !
I know what you mean Edinburgh, but our normal prices arent exactly extortionate…..these friends we’re being encouraged to bring along should get off their backsides more often. I do agree with the principle of getting more people in, just think maybe its too cheap this one and worded in the wrong way.

It’s quite obvious, WINNING GAMES gets them in, even for us – the floaters won’t come to watch a losing/struggling team.
If there is one thing I have realised about Wigan people, they will support a winning team, hence why they will gladly watch Liverpool, Man Utd etc. It is also why our crowds went steadily up as we went through the leagues. Now we are losing more games than we don’t lose, the crowds are staying away. You watch, if we start to win a few more games, especially against the teams we should be beating, the crowds go up (i suppose this isn’t just a Wigan thing though).

I would have agreed with you JayT, but just look back to around this time last year, the best team we’ve ever had, 7th in the league and less than 13,000 Wiganers turn up. The other lot are looking like having their best season for years and they have to give away pies etc to get people in. Seems to me that a good number of Wiganers prefer to watch both teams on t’internet or in the pub rather than get down to the DW.
