      Monday – nowt

      Tuesday – nowt

Wednesday – hold press conference saying how much he respects/admires Saturday’s opposition manager/best player

Thursday – hold team talk “Ali, when you get the ball roll it out to our least skilfull player. Gary, hold on to it for far too long. Ben, when Gary has looked clueless for about 5 seconds, run towards him. Gary, wait until Ben has two men on top of him, and is facing our own goal, then pass it to him.” Make sure there isn’t any other game plan regardless of who we are playing, under what circumstance, and what may happen during game.

Friday – hold another press conference, repeat the adulation statements from Wednesday, then say something to ensure the opposition aren’t at all worried by their forthcoming fixture, something like “Winning isn’t important”, that should so.

Saturday morning – pick our best team. Gomez, Figgy etc. For anyone who is any good, make sure they are playing in the wrong position. Oh and anyone bought within last 6 months, leave on bench or out of squad completely..

Saturday afternoon – stand still with arms folded, and watch a game of football.

Later Saturday afternoon – hold press conference and say how proud he is of the players to anyone who is still listening.

Saturday evening – watch MOTD and listen to comments like “one of the brightest/most talented young managers in the premiership”.

Sunday – read about this “best upcoming young manager”, check who we are playing next week, start to think how to make their manager and players feel comfortable and confident about their game.

This rant is further clear evidence of Brummie Dave’s crush on Bobby.

This rant simply shows the level of football intelligence that so many of our fans display at home games with their non-stop bloody moaning.

We’ve lost to Everton, Man City and Spurs.

We are unbeaten against teams that should be our relegation rivals – QPR, Norwich and Swansea.

          Get a grip.

That isnt the point, The point is the manner of the way we seem to accept defeat before kick off. One look at the team and you know that defeat looms. That is not being defeatist that is just knowing how predictable we are. Joke team

Mr. Primate, you cant call other peoples level of intelligence when suggesting that we should be happy losing to the likes of spurs, utd, liverpool et al. Ambition, winning, europe and that frigging warchest are all quotes by our chairman and echoed by the useless prick with the folded arms. Ive seen no evidence of any of it in all our premiership lagging.

take off the rose tints son, and eccept that untill we get a manager with some balls, we are only going in one direction…… and it aint upwards.

Explain this one then. When someone posts something on here anything even vaguely negative about Bobby, the replies either agree, or slag off the original poster. They very very rarely argue against the content of post in support of Booby, his team selection, game plan, tactics, interviews etc.

The tactics are dull, boring, predictable and slow, the last two being fatal in the Prem.

Look at Spurs first goal. Figgy gets criticised but what other manager faced with such a poor available defensive line-up, would still have told them go out and pass the ball around at the back, when playing against one of the fastest, fittest, and most capable team of forwards and attacking midfielders in the league. It’s ‘Plan A’ every time and every other team knows we’ll do it every week.

We can’t attract the most skillful players to Wigan, so why play a set of tactics that can only work in the Premier League if you have not only the best footballing defenders money can buy, but also a set of attackers who can score enough goals to cancel out the goals you let in through the odd error at the back? We have neither so that game plan will fail many more times than it will succeed.

So instead of slagging off people who point these things out, someone defend the team selection, game plan, tactics during the game, ability to motivate players etc.

Well, if your alternative is to just lump it forward at every available opportunity then I would prefer us to continue to try to play the way we do. You’re right that sometimes we aren’t good enough to play it the way we do but I’d prefer us to keep on trying.

so you would rather the team fail playing ‘football’ than succeed lumping it forward?

I think theres a suggestion of adopting Stokes tatics. fast, hard and on the oppositions toes. It works, not pretty, but very affective.

                  #71718

And where’s the guarantee that our bunch of clowns will be any better at lumping it than they are at passing it?

You might, or might have not, noticed, they only played one.

Firstly, thanks for the responses, much better ones than the slagging off I expected.

I think what I’m looking for, and perhaps some others are too, is a bit of reality injected into the approach. We are constantly reminded that we’re punching above our weight, are a small club, have been on a fantastic journey, blah blah, so we have to be realistic. Well perhaps the manager has to be realistic too. Perhaps he needs to realise he isn’t managing Barca (yet) and that perhaps we won’t stay in the Premiership if the rigid adherence to the current ‘Plan A’ continues. Perhaps sometimes he needs to be pragmatic and recognise that our squad can’t play that way all the time without losing too many games to stay up. Perhaps he should get the players working in different systems, perhaps based upon who we are playing, and the context for that particular game. Perhaps just as we fans need to have realistic expectations and not expect too much, perhaps he should too and realise that he can’t make a silk purse from a sow’s ear. We haven’t got the players for that game plan, so please Bobby, adapt and be pragmatic (perhaps).

I’m sounding like ‘Doris Day’ now (look it up young ‘uns).
