21 January 2012 at 2:56 am #78771Just out of curiosity who was the last Latics player to be granted a testimonial?
Then who was the last Wigan born Latics player to be granted a testimonial?
My dad’s a member of a bowling club and half the bowlers there live in the immediate vicinity surrounding the club and have been members for twenty-odd years.
There are a couple bowlers who moved to another club on the other side of Wigan, but because there are only a handful of clubs of that standard about, most tend to stick with their local club, and most members of that club tend to live within spitting distance of it.
Funny innit?

good questions those but ones we cant answer for obvious reasons, too many to go into – but youve caught us with that one – well done
Now I have some questions for you of a similar style.
Who was the last worriers player who got caught taking performance enhancing drugs ?
Then who was the last wigan born worriers player banned for taking recreational drugs ?
Who was the last wigan born ex worrier banned for taking drugs, who had to leave town and terminate his employment with worriers because of dodgy drug deals, and has an uncle in prison on remand accused of the same thing ?
theres more
Who was the last ex worrier who broke another mans jaw in a drunken rage, despite the fact that man was 6 (yes SIX) stones lighter than the steroid filled muscle bound professional sportsman throwing the punches.
Good quiz this one – if you like we can play again some time.

Question why is there a 14 page thread about a brigante /ultra who spray painted the toilets at the DW last night ??
21 January 2012 at 4:24 am #78782But how many people actually bothered to watch or even understand it??????
I wouldn’t know. How many people who watch football don’t know the offside rule?[/quote]
How can you follow a totally half-baked sport where you can be offside in your own fookin half?
21 January 2012 at 4:49 am #78790How can a team lose a match in a knockout competition(not a 2 leg tie)and not be out of the tournament as happens in the sillyleague play offs ?
as said earlier some dont understand the offside rule, what I am convinced of – nobody understands this rule.I guess the answer is the same way that you can lose a game in the World Cup and still be crowned Champions. Spain 2010.
If you finish in the top 4, round 1 is a qualifying tournament similar to the group stages. If you finish 4th-8th then it’s straight knock out. Stupid but true.
21 January 2012 at 4:52 am #78791To put it another way.
Rounds 1-27 of the league season are similar to the Qualifying stages of the World Cup/Euro Championships. Your finishing position determines your next move. Eliminated, through to the knockout stages, through to the group stages etc etc.
If we’re playing silly question season……how can you finish 4th in your domestic leage and qualify for the European Champions League? (yes I know the answer is exactly as the above but I’m sure you’ll agree it’s equally as dumb)

(yes I know the answer is exactly as the above but I’m sure you’ll agree it’s equally as dumb)The comparison is marginal at best Egg. If you win your domestic league there’s a lot of prestige to go with it – and you will always be recognised as the champions of England, Scotland etc. In Super League you can win ever single game up to the play offs, then lose two knockout games and basically, you’ve won f’ all.
If the league games are mere qualification, then that’s one heck of a qualifying group – 26 games, to play a tournament of 2 games.

I don’t like it, but they’re the rules. Just as they are in American Football, Aussie Rules, Rugby Union, Basketball, Baseball etc.
Don’t forget that in football you can finish 3rd in the Championship miles ahead of 6th and they can be promoted to the PL ahead of you.
I don’t like it, but they’re the rules.
10 February 2012 at 12:27 am #80984Yes but whoever finishes top of league’s 2,1 and the championship are crowned champions and go up as champions. Leeds Rhino’s finished 5th or 6th? and were crowned champions, your argument does not realy stand up Egg.
Plus like super league, the premier league is the top flight so therefore has no promotion so there is nothing to “play off” for.
I would just admit that it is a joke to the vast majority of the sport watching population. It can’t realy be dressed up as anything else, you can’t pollish a turd!

You mean the majority of the sport watching population who also have a playoff system?
Why is 6th being promoted to the PL ahead of 3rd acceptable?

Indeed but explain why 6th V 3rd in the Northern milk dairies championship means you get feck all because there isn’t no relegation /promotion
10 February 2012 at 4:20 am #81002With the bottom 6 all playing each other this weekend, it could be a massive weekend.
You really need to stop worrying about this supposed non-sport and concentrate on 18th v 20th in the worlds’ most watched game.
10 February 2012 at 1:25 pm #81013And I would suggest you stop posting on the board of a club you don’t support and a sport you supposedly don’t follow.
