Maloney was asked after his two FA Cup goals was he the difference to which he replied no.
I can tell you this much after his goals and performances of late I think the next fortnight might test Wigan’s resolve and trying to keep hold of him till the summer.

There’s a good few teams up the top end of the Championship will be looking out for a player who can offer goals from an attacking midfield position, Sunderland Middlesbrough Blackburn Sheffield Utd Burnley etc etc etc.
At this moment in time for us he’s irreplaceable purely for his goals. Taylor had about as easy as it gets chance last night from a few yards out and it took Aasgaard to come up with two cracking goals to see off Mansfield.

If he goes in the summer which I’m pretty much sure he will then like Lang good luck to the lad, he’s been brilliant for the club. If he goes in the Jan window I think we might just struggle as we don’t have anyone with that skillset and goals at the club especially at this moment in time.

Let’s hope we can stave off any potential buyers and Danson can see what we all can see,

      Right now he’s needed badly

Whether this window or the summer window, it will be sad to see him go.
But being fair to the lad, “his time is now” and he has to step up next season; because under our stewardship we are never going to take him to the dizzy heights.
Good luck Thelo :good: :good: :good:

Oh there’s no doubt him and Tickle will leave and I’d have it a guess it will be this summer when negotiations arent as rushed and there’ll be more potential buyers.
Both Tickle and Aasgaard have 3.5 years left so we hold the cards but I think both players will be looking at progressing and earning far more coin.

The hint that Tickle might be leaving iin the summer is the signing of the young lad Spinelli. That leaves us with 4 keepers on the books if you include goalkeeping player-coach Lonergan who would have to give up playing to be taken out the frame.

Let’s hope both players remain fit and keep their form so we can maximise both players sales in the summer.

Surely Danson “must” release a chunk of any money to Maloney so he can strengthen the squad because come the summer we’ve potentially 17 players leaving either through contracts running out, loan ends or sold, that’s over half the 32 man squad

Apparently there’s a release clause in his contract rumour has it it’s £3million

          Peanuts given he scores goals

            I’ve heard…and it might not be true…

That there are 4 clubs who have activated the release clause of 3 million.

Thelo wants to stay for now…club wants to sell.

I’ve a feeling he’ll be gone either on, or before deadline day. Probably be announced on deadline day at 10.45pm, perfect excuse for not spending any of the money and it’ll disappear…

Three million quid for a goal scorer in football terms is cheap but that will certainly put trophies on Rugby League shelves close to home.

He’s doing an excellent job at self promoting there’s no doubt about that, again he showed his worth with a superb free kick.

I just hope he can be as loyal to the club he grew up in and stay till the summer just to make sure we stop up. At the end of the day regardless of any release clause it comes down to the club and the player but mainly the club, Latics hold the 3.5 year contract contract, period.

Aasgaard will have far far more more lucrative offers in the summer than “Panic Jan”

If he’s sold in Jan that will just show the world what we mean to the owner and it will be all about clawing back what he spent when buying the club.

Aasgaard Hughes and Tickle are prime examples of how we have to be run but at the end of the day it has to be on our terms as to when.

If both go in the summer then fine good luck to the lads if they go in Jan things might go pear shaped very quickly

An incredible goal yesterday and what a player , Nick Powell mark 2.
Was it me or did he seem a tad emotional after that goal went in ?
Don’t wish to be a doom monger but a thought it was off given how late the goal went in.

He comes across as quite a shy fella keeps himself to himself but I’m in no doubt him leaving is in the forefront of his mind.

He grew up at Latics so it must be hard when you’ve basically known nothing else and not that, he’s basically grew up through the bad times so some of the achievements must be even more sweeter.

He could go through the rest of his days winning nothing like alot do but at least he tasted success winning L1.

I just hope the club can gentlemen’s agreement on it to stop till the summer then he can go. Like I said, his next step will be his most important move and is a rumoured Stoke his best option? definitely not.
He could land a good side coming down or a good side who’ve gone up who knows.

Anyway not one Latics fan can begrudge him a move good luck to the lad. He’s worked his rocks off to get were he is

I agree he has come a long way and now looks like he’s ready to go on to higher things.
With all due respect hopefully that is with an ambitious forward thinking club rather than unfashionable backwater club with delusions of grandeur living in the back of winning a sole low key trophy in their entire history.
Hope he stays here until the summer when he has hopefully attained at least 20 goals and will have more choice and better prospects.
Good luck to him , a fine player.

He’s better than a Stoke like Hughes I thought he was better than Hull. I suppose at the end of the day like any line of work money dictates.

Gelhardts a prime example of what money does. He’s signed a new deal with Leeds to keep him there till summer 2027. He could potentially stay at Leeds on very good weekly money till he’s 25 and done nothing bar lobbed out on loan here and there. Half he’s best years gone drifting around but earning coin.

Gelhardts at a club were he’ll never get in the side so why not leave ? money. I just hope Aasgaard doesn’t fall into that trap and go early in Jan cause the club wants money.

He’s improving by the day and at a top club with the better coaching and facilities he could potentially go all the way.

My fear is, who’s the next Aasgaard? weres he gonna come from ??, I don’t see many on the horizon that stand out

Spoke to a couple of Leeds fans a few months back and they reckon Gelhardt is on 30k a week. Great wage for the lad, setting him up nicely. But surely he wants to play? The wages have put a lot off taking him on loan.
Hull obviously have the money to take him. Probably a 60-40 split on the wages.

He definitely has to leave Leeds if he wants to move on with his career.

So I woke up this morning to read the article in the Wigan Today about a so called possible “new deal” for Aasgaard by the club and I spent the next 5 minutes wiping the cornflakes off the kitchen wall.

Really, who thought to write this piece of crap? are they on MDMA or something?.
Aasgaard signed a long 5 year deal 18 months back so as it stands he’s 3 1/2 years left so any new deal would def not involve adding to the length of his contract it would be purely negotiating more money.

Now considering what’s gone with us basically releasing everyone and anyone on decent money and the new wage structure put in place we couldn’t come close to what other clubs could offer him.

Aasgaard originally signed a 5 year deal allowing him to develope over the next couple of years. From the time he signed he has improved 10 fold so now the clubs in a strong position over the negotiating table due to him still having 3 years left on his current deal.

This lad has come through the worse period bar none in the clubs history very tough times and could have bailed out at any point. He’s seen 4 owners, administration and a massive clearances plus wages brought to an all time low.

He’s seen the highs of promotion and the lows of relegation and all in such a short space of time that’s alot of stress and alot to take in for such a young lad.

Right now he’s at the top of his game and that young thin teenage boy we saw a few years back has become a man which inturn had drawn the attention of a number of clubs and rightly so.
                            So,
What can Danson do to keep him here ?,

Nothing absolutely nothing. We are one of the lowest paying clubs in the league and there’s no way we could come remotely come close to what a Stoke Blackburn or Forest could offer.

I think he should stay till the summer and if he maintains his fitness and form he will have a plethora of clubs banging the door down. Goals from a forward are hard to come by (coughs Magennis Fletcher) but from an attacking midfielder they are rarer than rocking horse sh*te.

Once Danson’s phone starts to ring come the 4th of May I think any new deal will be folded up into the shape of an aeroplane by him and tossed straight out the office window.

I’m sure whoever drummed up this Wigan Today article did it in tongue n cheek to simply stir up some kind of hope in us fans but to me it’s laughable, comedy gold, truth be known the club knows he’s off.

Aasgaards leaving there’s no two ways about it. I honestly think it will take some kind of a stupid unrefusable amount of daft money to let him go in Jan or I personally think he’ll sit tight till the summer when the corridor at the club will be full of potential clubs all with contracts in hand.

This lads ready to leave right now with 3 or 3 and a half years to go, fit, in form , it’s time we cashed in on his potential. As a club we need to negotiate amount for his sale and a 25% sell on clause then pat the lad on the back then in a few years time when were all sat there watching a Prem game we can all say that classic one liner:-

“He use to play for us him”

On the subject of selling and money I’ve a feeling we might be in for a huge windfall with Antonee Robinson.

I have a feeling he might be heading out the club is say to Liverpool. Robinson’s at his peak at 27 and with Robertson’s form and age and Tsimikas not up to the job I think Liverpool will test Fulhams resolve.

Only Salah and Saka have more assists this season with 9 each so I think at £40million to £50million he might be heading a top top club.

But I bet alot of you didn’t know this:-

If say Robinson sold for £50million and we receive 20% sell on clause £10million Everton are entitled to 33% of what ever we make in profit meaning Everton would roughly make
                            £50million minus our fee £2million
Leaves £9.6million profit for us the Everton receive 33% of that which is roughly £3.16million leaving us with around £6.5million

That’s enough for Everton to start repairs on their leaking roof at their new Bundesliga stadium

                            #204834

I think Blackburn would be a good choice for Theo. They are in the play off group and need creative players if they are going to make a final push for promotion. Eustace seems to be doing a steady progressive job at the Rovers. Rovers have a lot of injuries at present, so I think Theo would slot into the team straight away.
If he does go, Danson needs to spend some of the coin; and not on the sludge rats or the girlies

I bet he gets sold but it’ll only be announced at about 10.55pm on deadline day, thus giving the excuse of “not being able to bring anyone in”.

The money will just disappear. Again.
