And for the second 45 mins.
Not a single shot on target.
Wouldn’t give any Latics player more than a four performance rating.
Dale Taylor played well on Saturday, but was invisible today.28 January 2025 at 9:48 pm #204934Just confirmed: Thelo is a Hatter for an undisclosed Fee.
28 January 2025 at 9:55 pm #204935Peterborough won 1 in last 10 !!! Hit for 5 weekend..then up rolls gift horse Wigan again .Piss poor squad of players, piss poor manager and an owner who couldn’t give a flyer. Aasgaards goals now out of the equation ..1 recognised striker in a 30 man squad and he’s on f###### loan as per usual.Who the hell sources these players…Rankine, Norbury,Thomas,Olakigbe,Sibbick,Asamoah,Hungbo,Hugill,…..jury’s out on Goodwin, Mellis……..When the purse is bolted shut then that’s what you have to play with ….and Maloney isn’t up to getting a tune out of a shagged fiddle..not with his pass to death shite….50 years but f### that Saturday….spend the afternoon in the pub ,spending time with my wife. If Danson doesn’t give a f### ….then I’ll join him……at least for a day !!!!!
28 January 2025 at 10:44 pm #204936To not be able to touch the ball for the 15 minutes was unbelievable. I was told Dale Taylor is not an out and out forward so tonight was the perfect occasion for him to take the mantle and play the Aasgaard role which he did and failed miserably. Only Jony Smith showed anything and that soon fizzled out.
Well not a shot on target against a poor side you now know why Aasgaard left, the way the clubs recruitment is operating it’s as poor as it gets.
Norburns like the one daft m8 we all have who just wants to fight. He was taken off before he was sent off which is not what we need.
It’s poor, player quality, tactics the whole package. For me Aasgaards seen “Of things to come” and probably thought Ive had enough, I’m out. He’s seen the The Bad Times and I don’t blame him for bailing tbh I would.
I’m sorry to say but the buck stops at the managers door. He has to get a tune from what he’s got because if he doesn’t were heading to L2 with performances like that, as bad as it gets
29 January 2025 at 5:17 am #204938And to top it off I heard Maloney’s post match chat and his remark “We didn’t create many chances” just highlights all’s that’s wrong. He even got that statistic wrong.
He used the word many instead of any. Honestly that match shows the progress as a club and a manager we’ve made in his 2 year tenure.
I would love like many to hear what the long term plans is, what’s the structure, our direction because we’ve gone from a club who strived for success to a club who’s main ambition is to try and stay out of L2 and based on that performances coupled with others L2 looks achievable.
My fear is, some of the Aasgaard money will be used to pay for a few deals for some of those that were on that pitch last night, dear God please no !!!
29 January 2025 at 5:58 am #204939A few days of window remain and Olakigbe returning means that likely
to be another loan arrival….would you give this recruitment team a bean of any transfer revenue…..The loan signings in general have been pitiful….the permanent ones look as bad…Rankine, Asamoah,Mellish,Sibbick,Hungbo and Weir been a disappointment up to now.F### knows where this club is heading but 18 months in and rigor mortis is starting to develop……I had so much hope after the Danson announcement……talk about a false dawn….and still no dialogue from our owner……..Shambles.29 January 2025 at 8:01 am #204940Well, I hope people start showing their decision by voting with their feet and giving games a miss.
Lots have already dropped off, including ST holders who are staying away. They still get counted in the attendance though, hence why it always seems they’re announcing 8756 when in reality it’s minus 8000. And it’s going to get worse and worse. I’ve no thought of going on Saturday, and the cup game is also a no no. I couldn’t care less about it, to be honest.
I genuinely think this is worse than Kolo. We’ve had 2 years of this now and have gone backwards. Maloney was never the owners choice…so why have they not appointed their own man? Because they don’t actually care and he’s a cheap option. Probably the only man who would work to the constraints they set.
With his links and all that, it’s a shame it’s gone this way. But it’s even worse because it’s being allowed to drag on. For me, I look at Burton and they’ve got Gary Bowyer as manager. How that guy has never had a crack here, I’ll never know. He’s transforming Burton and may well keep them up yet. They did us a couple of weeks ago.
My point though is a new man to come in and shuffle the pack…albeit a poor pack, might just shape these into something that stabilises us those season and keeps us away from the drop. My biggest fear now is us selling Tickle on or just before Mondays deadline. If we do that, we will be right royally screwed. Big time.29 January 2025 at 8:37 am #204941Spot on that, CW
All the posters on this thread (most of which are long term Latics men) make very valid points & observations.
I find it depressing & sickening that our beloved club has hit an all time low, in terms of abject management from the top down; not to mention our regressive style of football.I certainly don’t intend to renew my season ticket, unless an epiphany happens in the remaining 3 months of the season; and once my mindset has re-adjusted to life without my “Latics fix”, it will be difficult for the club to win my support back. I definitely will not be the only one.
29 January 2025 at 8:46 am #204942Agree with everything .I’m not going Saturday. Difficult for me because my granddaughter loves every game win, lose, draw so I’ve continued to go out of guilt if she couldn’t go .She can’t make it Saturday so stuff the game. We both season ticket holders and future fund members, done a lot of aways at a considerable expense for myself heading to retirement so this decision is totally against the grain for me. Just can’t motivate myself to watch more yawnfest football played in a crypt. I can live with mid table if I could see a long term plan and some ambition from the owner as well as some interaction from him with the supporters……but nothing. Why did he purchase the club? No football club in the EFL makes regular profits…sustainability….sick of hearing that. Remember what he said about investing in our youth ? How’s that working out ? If he means the youngsters we are buying then we are truly f#####. We haven’t progressed on or off the pitch in nearly 2 years. Everything from the playing staff, management, ground, recruitment supporter interaction is non league or worse standard. Total disrespect to the East stand supporters when we hosted Man Utd all paints a sad picture of this club we love. Danson needs to start fixing things personally before it’s too late.
29 January 2025 at 2:18 pm #204943Very similar to early 90s Kenny Swain era and Maurice Lindsay and his cronies immediately spring to mind with the Rugby gaining credence one again, town turning red again.
Will end up in National league north with this self sufficiency malarkey and any assets will be sold off quickly and at maximum return with no ongoing investment in the playing staff other than cheap loans or free transfers.
It’s bare bones policy and a once ambitious and forward thinking club has now become a sell to survive one almost overnight.
An absolute wreck of a football club at the moment and a huge policy change is needed because if this policy continues I really fear for this once great little football club.29 January 2025 at 2:24 pm #204944For me Aasgaard couldn’t wait to get out of the shit show, he’s seen the red flags and took the first offer that came along.
He could have gone to a bigger club had he waited until the summer.
We must be in a sorry state if he prefers Luton to us, we may see him next season if Maloney somehow manages to keep us up, not looking good though.
Fuck the EFL
