Some people on here just can’t embrace the good, for wanting to cling on to the bad, next season will be more enjoyable as a spectator, unless you’re a glutton for punishment and actually enjoy this shite!
21 January 2012 at 2:21 pm #78799Right now at this moment, we are preparing for a premier league game, therefore that is our level. we fight to remain there, but so what, we’re represent the town, and we’re there on merit! I want to stay there anf represent this town at the highest level we can, not play in a lower league then we can win more. I’d watch wrestling for that, and wrestling is soap opera for boys.
21 January 2012 at 3:05 pm #78802So you fall in the glutton for punishment category then, I’d rather have something to play for in a league we can compete in, each to their own though eh?
21 January 2012 at 3:15 pm #78804Strewth….what makes some posters so sure this pile of dog doo would be competetive in the championship.Lets fight to stay in Prem .As for another winger ..beggars belief.!
21 January 2012 at 3:50 pm #78808and as for Mr Doe saying
new places to go
I can only assume he has been supporting us since we got in the EPL – no probs with that
but I have been to all the grounds in the Championship – so no new grounds / places for me to go (and I suspect many of the long standing fans too)

21 January 2012 at 4:16 pm #78812By ‘new places to go’ I meant different from the ones on offer now, and you’re right in saying that alot of fans haven’t yet been to those places, so even more to look forward to.
Myself, I used to go more when we were in the lower leagues, and enjoyed it more too, there wasn’t the same expectation or pressure, I think that’s what made it enjoyable, this premier league thing just doesn’t do it for me, the whole ethos is flawed, not a level playing field, a few teams competing to win it, others fighting to get into Europe only to see it as a chore, then the rest battling relegation. Largely predictable, overhyped and not in my opinion Wigans ‘place’.
Should relegation happen, then I might enjoy watching my local team again, and I know that we would then have the ultimate aim of getting back in the prem, but I can’t see it happening, and personally I’d settle for a competitive season in the championship and a good cup run, as that’s another thing this premier league survival rat race has robbed us of.
Like I say, each to their own, I realise that some people see the premier league as the pinnacle, and are proud that their town is in it, but I’d be just as proud to be in the league below, with clubs on our level and to see the players competing and enjoying themselves, and feeling like they belong, because it must be demoralising to try and get results against teams with ridiculously better resources, week after week, knowing if you do, then you’ll have it to look forward to again next year, like cycling up a never ending hill, well let’s have an easier ride for a while, every fan needs good times as well as bad, and certainly more than the nothingness that is the bottom half of the premier league. -
