Pompey have officially been told that their season is basically over….
9 point deduction has been enforced.
They have been told that even if they win the FA Cup, they won’t be offered a European place.
Because they are in administration, the FA can hold back any prize money due from thier cup run.Is this going to make them play better, with no pressure, seeing as the players will nearly all be up for sale and therefore will want to be impressing suitors?
Or will they treat it as garden leave?
We’ll see on Saturday when Hull with new manager Dowie take them on…
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

mmmm take it you dont like them then ?
18 March 2010 at 1:29 am #26886I don’t mind them to be honest, another club who thought they were miles bigger than us not long ago might just have to face reality, they had the fairytale FA Cup win but it means little now,
18 March 2010 at 1:43 am #26890In fairness, apart from that Westwood fella, the Pompey fans seem a decent lot. That said, there’s a lot of rubbish talked about their fans, yes the ones that go give them superb support, but their gates are incredibly poor for a club thats in a 2 club county with no Premier League club for at least 50 miles. I’m sure that they hardly filled FP even after they won the cup, yet with their catchment area, they should have been locking thousands out every week.

no love for pompey or westwood but why slag off someone when you probably dont know him ?18 March 2010 at 2:32 am #26915I know him, and he is a tool. He expects the whole club to run around after him, and most of the Pompey fans want nothing to do with him.
18 March 2010 at 2:34 am #26916You say there’s nowt wrong with that Westwood fella but I was talking to a load of Portsmouth fans in the Moon last season and they say no-one can stand him, he’s a knob. I’m not saying he is, I’ve never met him.

He and his cronies damaged one of the stands at Fratton last season, by banging his bell (!!!) and various other objects on the perspex sides, despite being warned on several occassions. He got thrown out, and on the way out was making cut throat gestures at the club’s Head Of Security, and shouting that he knew where he lived, and where his kids went to school etc. (allegedly)
That’s what sort of man he is.
Anyway, on the upside, the Security guy got him into his office during the week, made him pay for the damage to the stand, and made him grovel to be allowed back into the stadium. Westwood was nearly in tears.
So in summary, yes, he is a moron.

I’m sure that they hardly filled FP even after they won the cup, yet with their catchment area, they should have been locking thousands out every week. This season, their average crowd is down (like many), but they still fill almost 90% of available seats at Fratton Park. The missing 10% is mainly made up from clubs who do not take the full 2000 away allocation that is made available.
They had plans for a new 40000 seat stadium on Hayling Island, which will probably come to nothing. I reckon that they would have pretty much filled it, and here’s why:
Southampton used to only get 16000 at the Dell, but as soon as they moved to St Marys, their attendance doubled. Sunderland only got 20K at Roker, but 40K at the SOL. Even Wigan doubled their crowd as soon as they moved to the JJB. Its a fact that new stadium attracts new fans.
The crime that this club have committed is one of total financial mismanagement – betting their entire existence on Red, and its come up black. I hope they survive, because their 18000 loyal fans deserve a club, but I also hope the likes of Peter Storrie-Teller never get another job again.

I’m not saying you’re lying but you know this how?
Maybe the Pompey fans dislike him because he gets more publicity for following the club than they do?
Still……I couldn’t give a toss.
