If this story is true, I hope the pilluck bumps into Raoul Moat when going to sign for his “new” club.

Wigan have rubbished reports from South America that Paraguay international Antolin Alcaraz could back out of his move to the DW Stadium.

Donnelly there wi’ opinions! Proud of you lad

I thought this might happen after he scored that goal against Italy and his team ended up being quarter finalists. In reality he could move to a bigger club, but I doubt he’d get as many first team opportunities at some of the top clubs in Italy, Spain, etc.

But there’s no point keeping a player that doesn’t want to stay – and the season hasn’t begun yet so he’s within his rights to change his mind. Unless the contract he signed wasn’t just a pre-contract.

I know with these pre-contracts, both club and player usually have clauses which mean they can cancel the move, but surely these only apply until 1st July which seems to be when most contracts begin. I would have thought Alcaraz would have had to put something in writing to the club before then, if he wished to withdraw from the deal, surely from 1st July he has been registered as our player and if he leaves we would be entitled to a transfer fee

WIGAN new boy Antolin Alcaraz is after a move – before arriving at the club.
The Paraguay defender said: “There is the possibility we can realise other options.”

Its only agents spreading rumours in hope they can get more money from selling their client to a bigger club. Alcaraz as signed for Wigan Athletic who have in turn registered the player and now waiting for his work permit before signing a full contract. The pre-contract is a primarily agreement providing he obtains a work permit for the UK, this will be the case with all foreign players.
