As all and sundry knows were in the midst of a relegation scrap, good news is Pompey and Hull at home, forget the other 3 games, we couldnt have hand picked these 2 games , sick of saying this but now is the time 2 play Moses, and N,Zogbia in the same team from the off, lets attack them FFS, were at home against 2 teams below us, lets forget this pat a cake sideways, stuff and go at them, beat Hull, and we put this to bed, if Martinez wants the crowd firmly, behind us the Wigan way, is to have a go, always has been from Non League, ask the greatest managers who ever lived Attack is the best form of defence, never mind this possesion thing he harps on about, were 70% of it is sideways and back, if we go down we go down fighting, having a go, if we stay up, we stay up in style, by Attacking and Winning, against teams I,ll re-iterate are below us in the league, come on Bobby listen to the fan;s We couldnt have hand picked these 2 games, Attack do I think he,ll do it No, then again we,ll probably lose these 2 games, and get points off Arsenal and Chelsea, What do I know.

We would not be Champions League or even the Europa League but I think we would be safe by now.
So come on Bob lets play our best players play 4-4-2 and have a real go. No chance he will play 4-5-1 and we will struggle like hell against two poor sides I just hope we get the points and stay up.
Then our manager needs to be sacked as he is clueless!!!!!!
7 April 2010 at 3:14 pm #28903As someone who has not seen any of the Fulham game from Sunday, can I ask what formation Bobby played in this
I saw the line up when I checked my phone & saw that it had Moreno, Scotland, Rodallega & N’Zogbia & assumed that he’d gone 4-4-2 but having read this thread I’m guessing not & am now puzzled as to how he tried to make that work as a 4-5-1

Rod and Zog on the wings, Scotland behind Moreno.
7 April 2010 at 3:28 pm #28906So Jason Scotland was given the creative hub/in the hole position??????
And some wonder why many seem to be critical of Martinez!!!I guess its a step up from playing a centre half there though!!
7 April 2010 at 3:46 pm #28910Okay, let’s support all out attack with a bit of all out singing and support ! Now, that’ll get our fans flumoxed !!

Didn’t the geezer score playing in this role or did I miss something?
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!7 April 2010 at 7:18 pm #28919Can Martinez do anything right though?
He plays Scotland in the hole and he scores yet people still persist to claim he’s clueless? Surely playing Scotland there worked?!?!
Scharner is useless in my eyes but surely he proves to everybody on Sunday that he’s NOT a centre back. He can’t play simple defence and cost us the equaliser which then put pressure on us and cost us the game. Also, it was their centre back who got the winner so Scharner may have been at fault for that although the only person I can see to blame is Kirkland who seemed to just help it in the net with a nice little touch!
As for the formation, talk sport stated that Wigan were playing 4-2-4 when going forward and deserved to be leading at the break.
What people see from Martinez is the negative side of his formation. The slow build up play works for the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal, etc but when it’s being played by decent players rather than quality players it can go wrong but surely it’s his job to adjust the team to himself rather than adjust himself to the team? He is obviously playing the typical spanish football which helped Barca to a convincing 4-1 against Arsenal yesterday and i’m confident he’ll find the right players to do so (although I don’t believe we’ll be a patch on Barca)!
Martinez’s formation works in all sorts of different ways depending on who is in possesion and how the game is shaping. We will dictate the play rather than hoof and chase. It has worked but not consitently and that is something i’m sure we’ll be looking to work on so show a little faith, Martinez is here for the long run and we’ll NOT go down!
7 April 2010 at 7:36 pm #28920Kirkland wasn’t at fault, he was to blame for a couple of world class saves though.
7 April 2010 at 8:21 pm #28923I wouldn’t hold my breath. RM is the ‘Ken Barlow’ of management, we’ll probably play a 4-6-0 for the next 5 games. I started to lose faith when he and many of his players displayed a complete lack of respect for the FA cup by allowing Notts Co to outhink and outplay us in two matches. I’m sick of us passing backwards and sideways and slowing the tempo down to a crawl although we do have some pace in the team.
We’d be better off with some of the kids in who he’s sent to Sweden’s 3rd division.

So if martinez wasnt clueless why did he play scharner at the back if he his useless, :?
7 April 2010 at 10:15 pm #28930It beggars belief that the supporters have to plead with the manager to attack in a game that is a must win .Maybe when it is to late to save us from the drop he might do the honnerable thing and resign. He is without doubt the most arrogrant and ignorant manager we have ever had in all the years that i have watched the latics which go back to the forties. He stands in the technical area like a tailors dummy no passion,no commitment no ideas no feeling for the club, along with the other fools Barrow and Jones. The first thing Whelan did when he bought the club was to sack Barrow and now he is reserve team manager with responsibility for coaching international players in the first team what a joke.
