Just to get away from all the petty arguments I thought I may just post a good old CL owd fashioned subject about our all time heroes so we can all get on with what is important and that is supporting some of the great things about our club.
So here we go a few names and reasons for why we should call this lot all time heroes. Please feel free to add some more and a few other reasons for them being heroes too.

Harry Lyon, for his hat trick after coming back on the field after injury.
      Ben Watson, for that goal.
Jason Roberts for the goal at Arsenal.
Nathan Ellington for the goal that sealed promotion.
      John Rogers for his goals.
Roy Tunks for his hat trick of penalty saves at Mansfield.
Roberto Martinez for his class as a midfielder.
Hugo Roddelego for the goal that kept us up at Stoke.
Mike Pollit, for the penalty save against Arsenal.
Steve Nugent for being our youngest ever player.
David Unsworth for the penalty goal at Sheffield United.
Sean Maloney for finally beating Man United.
      Ian Gillibrand for pure guts.
Jim Fleming for the penalty goal against Peterborough.
Albert Jackson for the goal against Mansfield.
Graham Jones for all his 31 goals in the promotion season.
Johnny King for the blood and thunder.
Andy Liddell for 70 league goals.
Emile Heskey for being our first ever capped player for England.
      Mario Melchiot for his athleticism.
Kevin Langley for the most ever league appearances.
Jimmy Bullard for his consecutive appearances record.
Graham Oates for his scoring record in the FA Trophy.

There are many many more and my vote for number one simply because of the moment and what it meant and sorry Harry Lyon but it must be Ben Watson the greatest hero in Latics history.

Mr David Whelan, the reason we didn’t go back to being non-league or even non-existent in the dark days of the Nineties. The reason we played Premiership football, the reason we reached the Carling Cup Final, the reason Ben Watson scored that goal and the reason we played European football.

Mr Arthur Horrocks who bled blue and white blood and always said that it would happen one day.

And if the legend is correct, Sir Alf Ramsey a big reason we amassed the votes we did back in 78.

Tuther post about Colchester brought one up too. Pat McGibbon with a really significant goal.

Course I do Al in the Pheonix Stand at wonderfull Springfield Park having a great meal and night. Dave Whelan even called and said hello at our table. The Pop Side was bouncing and we were on the up. Amazing night. Not sure if we played with one striker or not. Somehow when we were on the up we didn’t but on the way down we have. Think we should stick with one striker and eventually we may even get to re-live the NPL days Al.

Graeme Jones for his magnificent first season in 1996-97 he was a slower version of Alan shearer.golden boot winner with 33 league goals an amazing feat.
His winning goal against Torquay at the death that season is probably the best headed goal I have ever seen.
Amazed he hasn’t warranted a mention as he started the clubs ascent up the leagues.

John Rogers was a fine header of a football. Good player John and a hero in our youth days.

I am always amazed that when these types of threads are posted, the greatest striker that ever played for WAFC never gets a mention. A player who scored a hat trick at Arsenal and who scored goals at every level more importantly he netted week in week out in the top division. I give you Michael J Quinn.

If we are going down the route of none playing heroes then our current Chief Executives Dad, Stan deserves a very large mention as he was instrumental in getting Dave Whelan to invest all those years ago.
Without Mr Jackson seniors input in getting Dave Whelan on board a lot of the heroes mentioned would more than likely never have become our heroes here at Wigan Athletic.
