I must admit at times I have got frustrated with some of the tactics Bob has used. One up front etc but taking a closer look and facing the facts after two full seasons at New Springy we must all now put our hands up and say “This mon has done pretty well to keep our club in this league”
We have just survived again this time but I think we must now start to be positive. We could say we finished just under half way because points wise we were not too far off half way. The negative looking football started to look more positive and the youngsters we have are now becoming promising players. We finished 8 points better this year in a more difficult league and that was on a drastically reduced wage bill. Could we have amassed the same points with 2 up front? Maybe not and our position of upsetting the establishment could have been lost.
Our reserves are showing we have youth starting to show promise with a fantastic season.
So well done from me Bob for doing what you have. I have a sneaky feeling we may finish with even more points next season.
C’mon you Latics.Good luck for season 3 Bob.25 May 2011 at 7:54 pm #66589Every manager every season get’s a new chance and new optimism. People didn’t just slag him off for the fun of it last season, He brought most of it on himself. I think he really shot himself in the foot with the opening 2 games and was after that always trying to recover but it took another 6 months or so before he managed to. I really do believe we will be a lot more comfortable this season. Even without N’Zogbia. I feel the lessons he learned in the last 2 or 3 months are valuable because there really was cause to take positives from that period. You could see it in the players and the manager. I don’t know quite how it happened but everyone worked for each other.
25 May 2011 at 8:15 pm #66590the start was bad but towards the end we really showed our determination and skill.
also dont forget how much the wage bill was cut and we still improved from 36 to 42.
id take improving every year without a doubt

C’mon you Latics.Good luck for season 3 Bob.Does this renewed optimism in Bob and the Latics mean that you might actually come to more than ONE league game next season?

I pressume you know this fellow
26 May 2011 at 2:31 am #66641I certainly do. He was an avid Latics fan home and away at one time.
As we have climbed the ladder his passion seems to have faded a bit.
There are signs of renewed optimism with him, as there are with a few others I have spoken to.
I know of three people who are getting season tickets next season who haven’t in recent seasons,
Although Donnys Page probably won’t get a season ticket he has said he will be there more often than he has for the last 2 or 3 seasons.26 May 2011 at 2:35 am #66644Anonymous
