I know a lot of points still up for grabs but with both Leeds and Brighton winning this week and our inactivity in the purchasing side of this transfer window it’s looking like the bottom 4 to fight it out. I would like to ooze optomism but with our recent form,no strikers of note and some tough fixtures looming draws are no good at all and unless we start on a winning vein straight away then I really can’t see us climbing anywhere above the bottom 4.So 4th from bottom would be a result ,can’t believe i’d actually be very happy with that after such optomism at the season start.

22 January 2015 at 1:34 pm #138521I’d be having a sly look at players taking League One by storm. Players like that Garner at Nob End.
They’ll be hungry to come to a Championship club even in our position because if they hack it and we go down then other clubs might come sniffing.
If we do still go down, then we have the players capable of making it in that league.

22 January 2015 at 3:31 pm #138530I know he’s out but it was around that time I was told it will be no great loss as he hasn’t scored since May or something.
Every time I’ve seen him he’s impressed.
22 January 2015 at 6:31 pm #138534Totally agree about lower league players especially forwards. I’ve believed from end of last season that the strikers who seem to be successful in the championship have done their apprenticeship in the lower leagues so are battle hardened and keen to prove themselves at a tier or two highers so I wasn’t too excited when we signed Riera and Delort. Why not have ago at signing Eoin Doyle from Chesterfield or Richards from Northampton etc,etc players who would cost considerably less than our 2 foreign flops. Yes I agree there is probably a lot going on behind the scenes but with 2 games remaining of the 5 in the window we have amassed 1 point so far and our squad could get smaller before we sign anyone. Our league position makes it difficult to entice any players so we have to win Sat to improve our c.v. just knobs me off that with 22 days of the window gone we look like we are bottom of the feeder chain .

22 January 2015 at 11:22 pm #138538It needs to happen for us on Saturday or we will really begin to be cast adrift and the rotund female warbler will be practicing her vocal chords. As for signings we will do what we always do and bring in a couple of loanees on the last day and sell some of our big names within the last hour of the window. Its the Latics way od doing it.
23 January 2015 at 5:08 pm #138562Given that the club has been making (correct) noises about our squad numbers being too high, I think there will more going yet before any more come in. I’d be very surprised if we get more than 1 new arrival before the end of Jan.
