Can we please throw any previous differences or clashes out of the window now? I admit I have been guilty of being part of many in the past. I dont want to fall out with anybody. Now is a time for us to all stand together, as one. So please can you accept my apologies and lets please look ahead. We all want the same thing…our club to survive. Thanks.
The events of this week have shocked us all. The sheer suddenness of how its happened, being the biggest shock. Our wonderful club, the subject, and object, that causes our great debates and arguments. Why? Because we CARE. I have shed tears this week, and I bet that I am not the only one? Never had such a lack of sleep. Simply too much bouncing around this head of mine.
When I see a 17 year old lad has put himself out there and has potentially blown open a sinister scam to profit from our ‘demise’, ita actually beautiful. Only a Latics supporter would have the get up and go to do that. A young lad as well. Amazing.
When I see the supporters club launched a crowd funding appeal yesterday, and it raised around 60k in one day, thats beautiful, it really is. Just truly outstanding.
Wigan Athletic may not be a big club. But its got the biggest heart. I am not normally an emotional person, but I have felt that way a lot these last couple of days. Tears in my eyes. Thats what it means to me! Ive had a ST for 34 years…that just cant come to an end. And judging by whats happened so far, we arent going to let it happen.
The response has been really magnificent. Not just from within our community, but pundits and people in football have spoken out in support of us. I think our case will become a landmark case, a watershed. Latics will be the club who changed things regarding foreign ownership and suitability checks. We are a unique club and we can make a real difference, for English football.
I remain cautiously optimistic about our chances of survival. There are far too many people around our club who will fight, and we wont let our club go down the pan. Not a chance. Theres that old quote from the Rocky movies, that goes “Its not about how hard you are hit, its about how hard you are it, and get up again”, or something like that. Well, Wigan Athletic supporters have already got up again, and are ready for round two. You don’t knock Wigan Athletic down so easy. Whether you are a Mancunian scrap metal merchant, or a Chinese Poker Player. They have taken on the wrong club, the wrong supporters, and the wrong town. We will NOT be beaten. You will NOT get this club off us, to go to ruin. Not a chance. We are as one. We are Wigan Athletic.

The administrators have stated that it would be far easier to find a potential buyer if we went down.
They might think that but their the only ones. Its bellend financial people like that who have put us in the shit in the shit were in.4 July 2020 at 8:09 am #187611It’s nice to see you back Vat, along with some others.
I’m so proud of everyone’s response to the situation, the fight and love for the club, our club. The letters, petitions, podcasts, captain Sam Morsy’s message and the rising just crowdfunding total have been truly amazing and inspiring. If nothing else it’s brought everyone together and I’m sure it must make us a more attractive prospect for any potential buyers.Together we will beat this with dignity, respect, humour and a twinkle in our eye, because that’s the Latics way. If I was to place a bet? What’s the odds on – overturn the points deduction – win all our games- go up through the playoffs!
Up the shithousing Tics!!
4 July 2020 at 8:30 am #187613Well said Vat! I share your sentiments 100%.
To quote Chumbawumba “I get knocked down but I get up again, you’re never gonna keep me down.”
Now more than ever is to adopt the Wigan Athletic slogan:
BELIEVE
4 July 2020 at 9:09 am #187615Spot on VAT.
The fans will come together there’s no doubt about that we always do. I’ve no doubt we’ll still differ in our opinion of the situation and future but we’ll stand together.
The response from other clubs has been brilliant as well with donations coming from fans of Villa, Barnsley, Man Utd and even Preston, Bolton and Wigan RL.
I understand Bolton fans giving us stick for kt (even though we probably still have more money than them) but every other message from other clubs is that of support and how this has happened.
4 July 2020 at 9:30 am #187616Agree with you here VAT, everyone in the same direction
Watching the zoom last night inspired me to look at and join the supporters club, despite being around since non league and me and the kids having season tickets for years I have never been in it, I am now though!4 July 2020 at 11:24 am #187618I bet the TV company behind the Sunderland documentary are wishing they had featured us instead, now! The content would be sensational and ground breaking.
4 July 2020 at 12:35 pm #187620They’d probably have stopped filming on Tuesday thinking “nothing to see here”

Those who danced on Bolton’s grave last August will be feeling exactly how their fans felt, and there will be some saddos up the road that will be dancing a jig. Fortunately those bitter and twisted twats are the minority and when the shit hits the fan, the good in the many outshines the bad in the few. Even though there was no game, supporters of many L1 clubs have visited Bury this season to have a pint, a portion of chips and a chat with the Bury fans.
4 July 2020 at 7:42 pm #187627You always laugh at the negative things that happen to your rivals, but as I said many times I never wanted them to go bust. You need said rivals otherwise what’s the point.

You would hope so, wouldnt you? I have had grief already on Twitter off one of our clubs, ahem, ‘Character’ supporters. He couldnt resist. Its idiotic.
Yes, we all have to pull together as one. Otyer clubs have had Administration, but its never been done in such an underhand and sinister way. The way the supporters have pulled together so far, is nothing short of magnificent.
