Midweek games tend to attract less youngsters, and there were probably less freebies given out, or a at least used.
The weather was abysmal, although we managed to miss the rain on arrival and leaving afterwards.
The opposition. It was not exactly an attractive fixture.
Live CL football on TV. I know its hard to believe, but some would rather watch that shite than the mighty Latics.
Present form. We haven’t exactly been banging them in lately, and the fair weather fans do like a winning team.
Away support. I didn’t count, but there weren’t enough to fill the ‘D’ in DW. At least there were too few for them to start fighting amongst themselves.I personally wasn’t expecting us to break the 10,000 barrier, so I was pleasantly surprised.
Anyway, the stay away fans will be back when we are pushing for promotion in a few months.
25 October 2014 at 6:55 pm #13444210,000 home fans on Tuesday was a pretty good show of loyalty. We didn’t average a massive amount more of home fans for a lot of the Prem Greed fixtures.
26 October 2014 at 9:11 pm #134512Without trying to sound too much like Brian Sewell, it is ‘fewer present’, ‘fewer youngsters’ and ‘fewer freebies’ given out…
‘Less’ means not as much
‘Fewer’ means ‘not as many’
‘Fewer’ should be used when you are talking about items that can be counted individually, for example, “fewer than 10 apples”. Less is correct when quantities cannot be individually counted in that case, e.g. “I would like less water”.

27 October 2014 at 1:24 am #134519Please don’t define it as numbers that can be counted individually.
When talking about our crowds you’re setting up an open own-goal

Be careful, you’ll be labelled an elitist, condescending know-all before you can say “thick as shit!”
