Presuming McCarthy is gone (£20 Million? Thank you very much!) and we can keep the rest of the squad (at a push) I dont think the first team would shape up all that bad!
4-3-3 (my preferred formation going into the new season)
Maloney……….Kone…….Mcmanman
………..Gomez……Mcarthur……..
…………….Watson……………
N/A …….Ramis…….Caldwell……Boyce
…………….Al-Habsi………….Obviously a left back is top priority as I think a flat back four is always on the cards and Jeany B and Espinoza done fit into that role.
Alternatively the expected 4-4-2…
………..Kone…..Boselli…………
Jeany B……………………Mcmanaman
……………Mcarthur…………….…………….Watson……………..
N/A……….Ramis……Caldwell…….Boyce
…………….Al Habsi………………
Obviously if people leave then we need more cover but as it stands we have plenty of cover in midfield & Pollit and Nicholls likely to be GK cover
I personally think a LB and RB will be top priority but no names spring to mind unless Danny Simpson fancies dropping a league.
Adding to that I think a CB and a striker would come in handy.
Obviously we need a bigger squad so add more names as you see fit…
What do the other fantasy managers on here think?
16 June 2013 at 9:58 pm #116345Powell on loan from utd is a good shout, depends who they sign. We won’t get 20m for McCarthy, but its a good starting point for negotiation by dw, maybe he can wangle a cash plus players deal from whoever signs him?
Were not in a bad position, the players leaving would have left anyway and the likes of di santo wouldn’t have the mettle for the championship anyway, at least the money coming in from sales will allow the squad to be bulked up allowing for rotation and injuries etc, that really cost us last season.16 June 2013 at 10:04 pm #116347I’d be happy with £10M and J Defoe from Spurs for McCarthy???

16 June 2013 at 10:40 pm #116352Eagles had some cracking games for Bolton.
But he also goes missing for periods of a season.
Too inconsistent for my liking and would probably command a decent fee.
16 June 2013 at 10:54 pm #116354If Chris eagles was any good he’d be playing in the premier league and utd wouldn’t have let him go in the first place, we should sign Ronaldo and bale with ibrahimovic down the middle, that will balance out having Caldwell at the back and will ensure DW spends every last penny on the latics before he pops his clogs.

Is Mustoe ready to step up as left back?
Is Pollitt still on Wigan’s books? I think he may have been released as a player.
