As I see it the main issue here is the failure to get the midfield up quickly in support of the forwards.
Power hasn’t been doing this all season…when was the last time he actually had a shot I wonder.
Anyway is Gilbey the key and due to be back to fitness soon?
22 February 2017 at 1:34 pm #155708Something’s gotta change, we can’t carry on the way we are. With Burton playing Blackburn Friday and say Burton win and we were to lose on Saturday the sh#t pit of a hole gets that bit deeper.
I don’t think it’s solely the players fault, the buck stops with Joyce and his preferred tatics of “Lets not lose” instead of a “Lets go and win”. Far too negative for me.
Your right an attacking midfielder would help but if Obertan is not fit after not playing for 6 weeks what chance has Gilbey ?22 February 2017 at 1:35 pm #155709Power is League One standard at best and he has been poor this season, not sure how he gets so much playing time if I am being honest?
22 February 2017 at 2:12 pm #155710Would have thought he’d have been on the bench if anywhere near.
What’s happened to Colclough and Daniels too, would have thought they’d have been a better option than some of those loanees we have got sat there at the moment?
22 February 2017 at 2:17 pm #155711We definitely need some width, and some midfielders with as much appetite as Morsy. You can tell, too, that the left and right backs are under strict instructions to stay in their own halves and not overlap. The net result is we’re not getting the ball into the box anywhere quick enough. Only our corners and central defenders have improved since Joyce came along.
My team for Sat would be:
Gilks
Connolly Warnock
Tunnicliffe Morsy Perkins
Obertan Bogle Grigg
(Though to be honest, there isn’t much to choose from)

There isn’t much to choose if you’re only going to play with nine :)
22 February 2017 at 3:01 pm #155714Well, Buxton and Burn pick themselves as well.
22 February 2017 at 3:30 pm #155718Been a big loss I feel as he looked an exciting player at the start of the season.

If you look at both their goals last night you’ll see both Warnock & Connolly were out of position. Too high up the pitch, and that is happening a lot of late, especially with Warnock!
We need to get back to basics and have a flat back four. Playing 2 wingbacks is costing us dear at the moment.

Hallefookinlujah marrer. I’ve said for donkeys that at our level we should not use wingbacks. It is a specialized position the hardest on the pitch outfield and we don’t have the players skillful enough to employ these tactics. Flat back four everytime until we get back amongst the elite. It also counters the twin strikers and makes it harder for teams to just lump it and by passing our midfield. How many goals have we conceded by balls over the top and from the channels?.
22 February 2017 at 5:25 pm #155729If we can see it why can’t they?
Feel for Buxton & Burn as both are playing really well but keep getting hung out to dry. Connolly lost the ball in midfield for the second & couldn’t get back. Warnock is too old & slow for a wingback, but would make a great left back.We are all over the place formation wise when they attack which makes it easier for the opposition.
