I can understand why we allow such a big away alllocation (money). However, it seems to me every big home game feels like an away game. I am aware the majority of following fans are genuine supporters of their club and not trouble causers.

However, Speaking to some fans and reading comments on here i.e. fans afraid to go to home games with their young children etc. As unfounded as these fears are, I believe it is something the club should be looking at. The one pub on offer is an away fan haven? supporters club looks like a school dining hall, is this acceptable for a premiership team? of course I understand away demand is more extreme now. But i think to attract new fans we need to make coming to the game more attractive and fans feel like they are the home team.

personally I prefer the away games than going to home games.

I challenge you to find any Premier League Club that has a facility at all for their Official Supporters Club. You’ll be hard pressed to find an Official Supporters Club at them never mind a ‘school dining hall’ for them to have a drink in.

Maybe if another 1000 or so supporters of Wigan Athletic all went down and paid their fiver for the season and paid to use their coaches for away games, there might be a an option for them to do a bit better than what we have now???

FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

I’ll hopefully be joining on Sat.

Was delayed getting down there last night, so skipped having a pint.

I also didn’t take my little lad last night, as I wasn’t sure about the Wolves lot, in case ‘Gilly’ and his boys started playing up. But my son is only 3 years old. I think it’s poor excuse to blame the bad attendance on people being scared of the away support. Fact is, people of the town are really crap at getting behind their local club. Yet it’s funny how when we got to Cardiff, about 28,000 or so went down there, isn’t it? A lot in our town need a big shoe right up their arse.

Little lad can’t wait for Saturday, though.

don’t get me wrong I am not criticising the supporters club and I often go in there myself. They do a good job and I am a member

I was just trying to make a point about the atmosphere around the ground. some of the other drinking dens I have been to at everton are not much better and the liverpool supporters bar at the end of townsend ave bottom of lower breck rd is nothing spectacular. But the amount of home fans make the atmospere (nothing we can do about that)

I was just trying to offer my opinion about the overall effect of the extra away fans and facilities around the ground, and tailoring them for wigan fans . I don’t know the solution but from many people I speak to they just mention the atmosphere caused by the away fans and lack of home facilities directly next to the ground . Maybe it’s just me living out of the area, and even though been going since ’88 not knowing many fans, just most games feel like an away game. Even when I parked in the official home car park my car was attacked while driving out by Bolton fans. No police in sight.

But I am not having a pop at the supporters club, I would like to see the whole of the champions bar being made members only a place to go after the game for home fans only and strongly enforced. I understand we have a small home following which is the main problem and even if we reduced the away allocation they would probably just come in the home end. I just personally believe it effects our home attendances.

I really don’t see the problem with away fans?

I always walk home after the match down stadium way along side away supporting fans going back to the carpark. I haven’t had any problems whatsoever.

I think the club need to promote a ‘family’ ticket or something cheap for kids, like kid for a quid.

The club should also do freebie promotions eg last night was our first hoem game with Martinez at the helm. A lot has been played on his ‘homecoming’ why didn’t Mr whelan but a bulk of spanish hats to give to the crowd? This would have got everyone in the spirit and maybe they might not have had such a bad game!

              Just a suggestion

To be honest they usually do. They gve free tickets for kids away at schools but the problem being is that the kids are off ’till Sep. But in saying that there would be nothing wrong in advertising it in the paper say kid for a quid.

Is this thread about too many away fans, violent away fans, the supporters club, or our overall lack of support.
