How many will make the effort this season.
It shows how much a good loud crowd can be a boost for the team, so in addition to the home games, how many will start going to a few more away games this season???
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
31 May 2011 at 6:49 pm #66994AnonymousI am going to try though it is quite expensive
i went to villa, blackpool, arsenal, blackburn and bolton fa cup. Maybe another i cant remember but really the only thing which stops me is money i already spend far too much on footy as it is :D31 May 2011 at 9:11 pm #66997I think money is the major reason for falling attendances in general and especially away games.
That and family commitments. It’s very hard to spend 40-50 hours a week at work and then dissappear for all of Saturday.
I probably went to 90% of away games a few years ago, but barely made half of them last season.
31 May 2011 at 10:13 pm #67001I never missed an away game in first 2-3 seasons but a mixture of poor results, cost, been there done it, arrival of grand children and football streaming via the net, means I only go to about a third of away games. I have hit going beyond the midlands on the head all together, for more or less the above reasons. I think the Fulham away games have been the ones that have pished me off more, a club that we should take our fair share of points from, however we invariably get nowt. Its such a long road back, particularly midweek when we have played them.
Good luck to those who make every away game, I know what commitment it takes, but you have to realise probably 99.9% of our away crowds travel from Wigan. Most of the top teams in the EPL have a country wide fan base, therefore the make up of fans at away games, does vary a great deal from game to game.
I think the best we can hope for next season is an average of around 1000 per away game, that will be a great percentage increase on the 700 we got last season. From Matlock to ManU

Got an extremely good feeling about our crowds next season!

Sorry but that’s just amateur.
Most games in a season was 1972/1973 when I went to 73 football matches. The previous season I’d managed a mere 63. And yes, I was a student at the time.
Like JR had an away season ticket the first season and went to 42 Latics games plus 2 England internationals.
I only went to 29 football matches (not all Latics) last season though. I am getting older. :?
But have got tickets for all the Olympics mens games at the Old Trafford – including two “double headers”.
Does this give me a gold star
PS I am just joking about “amateur” by the way. If you can get to games and still have the enthusiasm to do so, then good on you. But don’t criticise us old codgers who’ve put our stint in.
3 June 2011 at 12:44 am #67115Their is usually a midweek game at the start of the season and we all now where that will be Norwich away.
