Very interesting article in the Mail on Saturday about playing wingers on the wrong side.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1255794/Ashley-Young-Luka-Modric-Adam-Johnson–Premier-League-bosses-going-crazy-inside-wingers.html

I post it for two reasons:-

    a) to show that managers and other ‘experts’ are, at worst, divided as to its effectiveness
    b) to explode the myth that it is clearly not just our know-nowt, idiotic, clueless, Spanish manager who thinks it’s a system that has some merit.

It works for charlie, he’s been playing well on the right, cutting inside and having shots ect. He seems to go quiet when put on the left during a match, dunno if anyone else has noticed that?

Very good article Griff, but I wouldn’t have bothered. There will still be people who will discredit your posting, despite this reinforcing what several of us have been saying since August. Generally those who have appreciated why a left footed winger plays on the right are classed as the deluded sunshine brigade, and were called clueless even at the start of the season by the more knowledgeable football brains on this forum.

Personally, I have recently given up on posting links to articles and facts, as unsupported opinions and suppositions are clearly the way forward.

Or on the other hand, I’m a father again, so really I don’t give a monkey’s!

Ah, good lad. Well done to all. Both doing fine, I trust?

What did we get; a budding Brenda or a future Figueroa? :)

      i hope visiting/hometime doesn’t interere with tonight’s game. :geek:

I deliberately didn’t offer an opinion on the article.

Apart from with selected jousters, I have given up responding to most of those who perceive that they hold an opposing view to me. Not because I fundamentally disagree with what they are saying – in many instances I do agree with them – especially the likes of Tyldesley, VAT and Loudmouth (which may surprise some) – but because I am weary of being called an idiot, a “superfan” and deluded by people who don’t know the first thing about me. And they want me to give up some of my precious leisure time to drinking with them and be called and idiot and deluded???

      No thanks.

Another Budding Bramble I’m pleased to announced.

I thought tonight might be out of the question, but I’ve just overheard Mrs Walker on the phone to her mother saying I was going to the match tonight. She’s well trained.

        Ditto Griff.

In all honesty, I can’t be @rsed falling out with anybody. If we go down….we go down. I’ll still be watching in the Championship, so really, I’m not all that bothered, and I’m not going to get stressed or lose sleep over the next few weeks. You won’t see me shouting and gettin all hoarse in the stand. I’ll be the one sat there, supporting, but not venting my spleen when things go wrong. What is the point in giving yourself an heart-attack? Is it all that important? Christ, anybody would think it was the Premiership or nothing. Trouble is, for some who watch us, it is. But I do think that most off here will still be here, whatever happens.

And the arguments? The same things get repeated over and over. It all get’s a bit boring, to be honest. No. I’m just going to go the game and hope for the best. It’s all we can do.

Have you 3 not jumped the gun a little here !! There has only been one response and that was agreeing with you !! Here is my riposte…Totally agree. I wondered why he was not on the left but the proof is in the pudding as they say !! Oh and congratulations Mr Walker on your new addition !
