Don’t know if you just watched it, but they just destroyed Real 5-0.
They did it by playing a brilliant passing game which I think Martinez is trying to emulate.
BUT – the thing he needs to realise is that to do this you need players who can pass with pinpoint accuracy at speed, who can control a ball quickly while turning or on the move, and who have the footballing brain to run intelligently off the ball. Without those skills it is impossible. We are a million miles from having a fraction of that.
We can also note that Barca had 8 players who came through their Academy system, compared to Real who spent £280 million last year. And Barca PAY Unicef to allow them to have their name on their shirts.
Nice to see Ronaldo and Mourinho getting upset too
30 November 2010 at 1:21 am #51994Was it a Messi game !!
30 November 2010 at 1:37 am #52001It certainly was ;)
Really though, Messi had a stormer – no question who is the best player.
Lovely shot at one point of Ronaldo with the entire Barca crowd behind him giving him the finger.

Have to agree with Garswood – RM is trying to turn us into the new Barca. Only problem is you need some of the best players in the world to do it.
Also noticed that Barca play their best “out and out” striker on the left wing (Villa). Bob seems to have lifted this tactic by sticking Hugo on the left. Just a pity that we haven’t got a Messi to provide the through balls!

Too bad Rodallega couldn’t finish them even if we had a Messi to play them through!
30 November 2010 at 12:23 pm #52033I had to laugh at the guy on Radio 5, who was claiming that he was supposed to be out in Barcelona to provide commentary on the game, but due to flight disruption was sent to Droylseden vs Orient instead.

I believe one of the Barca fans was quoted as saying, ‘look how far we have come……’ :)
