Just watched MOTD how poor was our defending yesterday. We gave Arsenal the first 2 goals Arteta given far to much room and our defending from set pieces is a joke. We had 5 at the back you wouldn’t have thought so we were so open it was frightening.

If we have a defensive coach he should be sacked as he obviously is not doing his job.

What a flat pack kitchen unit???

Losing to Arsenal is no disgrace they are a top side but to make it easy for them which we did is what I can’t accept.

how much longer do we have to watch this shite. it is clear to everybody the system is not working. it’s no disgrace losing to arsenal, it’s just the manner in which we do it. we are not giving ourselves a cat in hell’s chance with the set up and tactics we use. this is not the latics i’ve come to love and hate through all the years i’ve watched them. i can forgive players not being good enough as long as they give everything, get in their faces, rough them up a bit as we used to do in the past. we are trying to play our way through teams instead of realizing we haven’t got the players or the system to do that. the sooner the spanish one comes down off his cloud , gets back to basics and stop all this theory bollocks about trying to match these teams, go 442, have a go at these teams, we can only lose as we are doing now, but at least go down fighting. we played 5 in midfield yesterday, you wouldn’t have thought so with the amount of room the arsenal midfield had.mcarthy had his worst game ever, and as for gomez, enough said. the lad mcarthy has gone backwards since martinez started filling his head with all sorts of shite. he dosen’t get forward anymore, passes square and back, does a lot of arm waving but very little else, the lad has been ruined by this clown. i feel sorry for sammon up front, he’s on his own, get’s no service whatsoever. it’s clear to everybody he needs a partner. as it stands, rooney or van persie would not score goals with the system we use, so what chance have we ? i never would have thought i would be saying this but i hate watching us, i don’t look forward going to matches anymore. i won’t stop going , even though we are a laughing stock. it pisses me off good style that one deluded, obstinate man can undo in such a short time all we have done, thanks a bundle.

Trouble is we as fans are to blame as well, because we are letting this happen and not letting a certain mr whelan know we are not happy with martinez in charge,Lets be honest the win at sunderland was a one off, and only through al habsi the game could have been over at half time.

And by the same token if Gomez had put that shot away from 3 yards in the first 10 minutes we may have seen a different game / result. If you are going to highlight the key points that went our way when we won, what about doing the same when we lose?

…and how the fek can the Sunderland win be a one off, just check the games won column in the paper or tv. OK its not many, but we have won more than one game this season. Again its seems OK to highlight the fact that we have not won many games, but fail to quote the true facts to try and put some meat around the negativity bones of your post.

To be fair we were gifted a winner against Sunderland ! Arsenal’s last 2 league games, they have won by the odd goal against Norwich and drew with Fulham, we play them and get spanked 4-0, their biggest win this season !! Does this tell you anything ! All this its Arsenal shite doesn’t wash with me because I sat through that yesterday and it was not good ! That system was laughable and very naive !!

As much as I think Moses is a good player, and in a better team, with the right coaching, could become a decent player. BUT 40+ shots this season with no goals says it all  The most of any Premier League player, without scoring.. We can’t keep putting it down to BAD LUCK. What they do in training I don’t know? however if it’s anything like I saw last season. It’s, a game of 5 a side, a run around the pitch, Lunch, then back home. All done and dusted in 2 hours…

Our problem since Roberto took charge has been our defending and I’m afraid this will not go away until a defensive coach is appointed. While Roberto is keen on the number of passes we complete in a game, when we lose the ball, we lack the effort/ workrate to reclaim it. Part of this is down to the poor level of fitness levels within the squad, the second is due the shape/formation employed. The first goal on Saturday started with the ball coming from the edge of the Arsenal penalty box with Mikel Arteta left to run from just inside our half with no tackle in sight. The second was was even worse, pulling nine back for the Arsenal corner with nobody on the far post and allowing the centre-half a free header. These are basic errors which are being madw week in and week out.
Surely it is time for dumb and dumber aka Graeme Jones and Graham Barrow to become government statistics?

Why single out those 2? As coaches they will be getting the players to do what the manager is telling them to do.
I also believe that latics have a “defensive coach” in dennis Lawrence but again he will only be asking the players to do what the manager tells him to

That said, its clear from Bobby’s post match comments this weekend that quite clearly he isn’t asking them to defend in the manner in which they did on Saturday for some of Arsenal’s goals (although in my opinion Al Habsi was at fault for the first 3). Quite how he is asking the team to defend is at times however a bit baffling

I don’t understand why we don’t have a man on each post when defending corners nor why we don’t leave at least one man somewhere up front.

Unless Uncle Dave is still doing the defending corners coaching. He did it in Rioch’s days.
