Some interesting stats for those who knock Jean (and if the guy who sits behind me is reading this, it’s JEAN as in Jean-Luc Picard, not as in the blue denim things you wear  )

4 April 2013 at 3:50 pm #107567Interesting! Well done, Jean. I think Wigan concentrate on the left wing, with Maloney playing Beausejour into space.
A surprise that West Ham put in most crosses and have the highest percentage of successful crosses.
I see Ronnie Stam gets a mention too.

He’s definitely lost some weight and his games improved as a result. Fair play for him putting the work in.
4 April 2013 at 5:02 pm #107576You can call up all the stats and surveys you want George but to some he’s still a “fat waster on the wing” and nothing will convice them otherwise.
4 April 2013 at 5:15 pm #107579I AM one of those knockers and stats don’t lie, but they also don’t provide a full picture either.
Yes he gets crosses in, but 9/10 they are to the back of the box or towards the 18 yard line.
I can count on one hand how many times he has took his man on and got to the line to put in a telling cross on or around the 6 yard line/penalty spot, which is where the damage is going to be done.
I just wish he would have he good 5 minutes/game spell in the first 1/3 of the game so we can get somebody else on who will do it for the rest of the game….
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
4 April 2013 at 5:19 pm #107580More often, Maloney plays a ball inside the fullback and Beasejour doesn’t have to beat his man.
He can centre with a cross, but if he is nearer goal, he can play a short pass into the penalty box.

I’m not arguing he’s anything special, because he’s obviously not. However, I don’t believe he deserves the stick he gets from many on this board. Enough of his crosses are in the right place because more of them are converting into goals than anybody else’s. He put a nice ball at the feet of McManaman on Saturday only for it to be wasted.
4 April 2013 at 6:25 pm #107583He does have good control when receiving the ball. And he does play neat short passes too.
Against Liverpool; McManaman beat Haidara and lifted over a delivery that Santon could not clear, allowing Beausejour to pounce and drill home a low shot.
You would have to pay a lot to get someone better;
Aug 24, 2012 – West Ham complete the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Matt Jarvis in a deal worth up to £10.75m.
I’m happy to stick with Beausejour. We should be thinking about a new RWB – Boyce has had a good season – with a spell in the back three – but he can’t go on for ever.
4 April 2013 at 9:40 pm #107591Too slow to beat a man. Doesn’t track back. Doesn’t ‘put a foot in’.
Other than that he’s a great player.

Earlier on this season I was among his biggest critics, and rightly so.
But he’s impressed me over the past couple of months. He’s fitter, slimmer, and his game has improved accordingly. Definitely more mobile, more confident, and getting to the byline more.
If there’s an award for most improved player, he’s got to be a contender.

I agree with dave!
5 April 2013 at 3:44 am #107646So he’s supposedly our main crosser of a ball but isn’t in the top 10 in the league? Not good.
