I would keep Pearce in the set up. I wouldn’t mind Pearce having a go myself.

I work with half a dozen Man City supporters who would disagree with you and say that under no circumstance should Stuart Pearce be allowed anywhere near the England manager’s job.

Re stuart pearce – for me he has some plus points going for him:
    1) he’s English
    2) he’s passionate
    3) he’s patriotic

we had that with keegan & it was a flop & I aint sure Pearce has got much more to offer than that

We need someone with Tactical understanding of the game, Pearce’s U21 team lost 4-0 to Germany a year ago in the U21 final, I guess he knew what was coming .

We need someone with a tactical understanding of the international game as well as experience. The only way to do this is go abroad !

In all fairness to Pearce, he did a good job (still does I think9 with the U21’s got them to the final of the Euro’s n all that (got beat by the Germans 4-0  ).

He’s been in the set up for a good few years, would have picked up some good stuff from Capello who undoubtedly still is a good manager, he just made an epic balls up of this World Cup

I don’t know really, we are really lacking in good English Managers, I wouldn’t touch Redknapp, so that leaves Hodgson, and he doesn’t fill me with great confidence.

      Holloway anyone… ;)

He’s got all of that in abundance Tyldesley, but he was woeful at City.

Maybe that was down to inexperience at the time, but all I can see are shades of Steve McCarlen’s appointment after Sven went.

No matter who is appointed, he’ll be shot down by the media the minute anything goes even slightly wrong.

Capello is at fault for the fact he played players out of position but what he had no control over was the ego,s of some of our supposed superstars. Gerrard hates playing on the left and decided he wasnt gonna play there. This exposed Ashley Cole and stopped him making his usual raids down the flanks simply because Gerrard was everywhere on the pitch except where he should have been. Lumpard wants a ball of his own and Rooney has serious issues with dicipline. These problems need to be dealt with if these players are to be permanent fixtures in the side. I doubt any foreign manager can sort out these ego,s except maybe Louis Van Gaal so it was suprise me if Beckham could manage it. We need a strong British manager with the balls to stand up to big time Charlies and make them play the way the manager wants. As you can tell I aint got over Sunday yet

I’ve been thinking that Pearce would be a good candidate for quite a while now. He’s been a part of the squad, he’s been doing really well with the U21 team, and a crop of those players are likely to be coming into the senior squad for 2012 and certainly 2014. At the moment though, I think Capello should at least stay through our qualification to Euro 2012. There was just too many issues in the squad this world cup, although I think some of the choices Capello made have proved unwise. Some of the squad selections were just wrong for me, from a man who would choose players based on form and not reputation. It was also quite clear to me at least that Rooney was not in a fit state to be in the starting XI, he was either feeling the pressure or was letting ego get to him and it was hindering his performance.

At first I thought it was a good decision to take Heskey over Bent, but the partnership with Rooney never worked and I think Bent and Defoe would have been a better option during the group games. But alas! It’s always easier to say things like this now that it can be looked on retrospectively.

Again, Pearce in the future, but Capello should stay on for the time being.
