11 January 2011 at 12:20 pm #55152If memory serves me right, isn’t he on £25 million a season at LA Galaxy?
So this will probably be on top of that!
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
11 January 2011 at 1:25 pm #55155Brand Beckham rolls into town !! I wouldn’t mind but he isn’t or wasn’t really what you could call one of the best footballers around and she cant sing for toffee ! They owe a hell of a lot to the media that helped to build Brand Beckham ! Good luck to him if he can squeeze a few more quid out of some hapless club !! This is one big risk for Spurs if you ask me. They are doing great at the moment and I would say that Brand Beckham could just knock things off kilter for them ! Watch this space !!
11 January 2011 at 1:42 pm #55156Why would he get any more money? Surely he’s just on loan from LA, in which case either they or Spurs will cover his existing wages while he is here.

Normally, a percentage is agreed that the owner club still have to pay, whilst the loan club covers the larger majority, say, 70%.
I’ve heard some crazy stories about daft agreements that have had clubs still paying wages to players when they have actually LEFT their club, and I mean they have been gone for some time. Absolutely diabolical.
The thought that Latics would ever do that would really dissappoint me. But yet I am sure there have been some similar things happen with our club, since the inception of agents influence within our game.
11 January 2011 at 2:16 pm #55161The F.A should ban the use of agents in our country. Imagine how un-hyped transfer rumours would be without an agent pushing potential transfers through. Imagine the luxury of a club being able to reject a bid for a player without the player ever getting wind of it. Ah if only
11 January 2011 at 2:27 pm #55162All the press, and more so Sky Sports News, need to do is collar Harry Redknapp on his way into training. This morning, not only was he going on about the Beckham thing, but the reporter started asking him about whether he was interested in PHIL NEVILLE.
Typically, Harry played it down, saying David Moyes wouldn’t be happy to lose him…..but where do the press dig these stories up from? I mean, Phil Neville? Good pro, experience, and all that. But where would he fit in at Spurs. Beckham you can accept, if he was to play a bit part, someone to throw on for something different, or to add an older head, but Phil Neville? No. (I’d have him at Latics, mind)
Do they just get a random player and throw them into the reckoning, to see what develops? I have to say, this whole concept of a transfer ‘window’ is a joke. All it does is give the press and media more stuff to wax lyrical about. I think it’s a blight on our game and needs scrapping.
11 January 2011 at 2:42 pm #55165Being a student student law at University and wanting to get into this area of law, the transfer windows are aninteresting period.
However, the transfer window just brings instability to the players. The mere mention of a players name unsettles a player when a manager is asked about the possibility of them signing for the club.
It is exciting to look at the players linked with clubs and it has become a day in most mens calendar to sit and watch transfer dealings happen in January. Sky is the biggest culprit for unsettling players and managers. Do you remember earlier in the season with Holloway reporting that he had resigned. B11 January 2011 at 3:40 pm #55176Tini,
If you are studying law, do you know that every agent has to pass the bar, in order to become an agent? Yes, they do. Yes, they need a law degree.
If you could become an agent, you’d end up rich.Get a top end player or two, and sort out a couple of transfers and it’s happy days. I’ve heard of some agents getting 25% of the fee. If that’s £10,000,000, you’re talking about a nice £2.5 million fee!

This rumour stems from the fact that Phil Neville has twice marked Gareth Bale out of the game despite his recent purple patch. He was subbed on both occasions after making no impact on either game. The rest is left to the media !! :?

To become an agent, all you need to do, in essence, is pass a multiple choice FIFA exam, and undertake a CRB check.
Quite a few solicitors have become agents over the years as they have been dealing with players’ contracts on behalf of agent, and have realised they can use their experience and contacts within football clubs to make more money than they would as a solicitor.
On the flip-side, there are also a lot of agents who don’t have much in the way of academic qualifications, but they do have the patter and have a lot of contacts within clubs (such as their dad in some cases…).
You could have a Masters Degree, but unless you’ve got the contact network within football, you’ve no chance of success as an agent.
