Can somebody give me a good reason why he’s still in our starting XI? I’ve been bemoaning his ability for more than three months now: dreadful at free kicks, cannot put in a good corner to save his life and he slows… the game… down… so… much… that… by the time he’s made a pass either all our players are too advanced or the opposition has closed down all the options.
Utter, utter tripe. I was screaming for McArthur to get on the pitch for the vast majority of the game, and yet it takes 88 minutes for that to happen.

Did you actually go today?
He was by far our best player on the pitch! He took ONE bad corner today, where he over hit the ball. Apart from that, his distribution and workrate was great. Possibly his best performance for us, so far.

27 February 2011 at 12:35 am #60491Not sure really. As I watched it, nani played one two nearer the half way line with Watson right on top of him. He began to track back and left nani to just make his way into our third unmarked. I felt Watson could have done better. Hence my criticism of the boy. The end.
27 February 2011 at 12:52 am #60498Vat i think your on the wind up or your just a fool. watson was a load of pi.ssy wank in the match.his corner taking is a joke and if you think he had one of his best games for the latics then the men in white coats are going to be breaking down your door and taking you away!!. one corner he over hit ha ha ha ha . what about the other lame corners he took that never even beat the 1st man. his forward passing well a utd player just moped them up al day long. i don’t get you. your a enigma to me Dave!
27 February 2011 at 3:10 am #60530Quite baffled by this condemnation of Watson who I thought had a decent game today.
The real villians where Gohouri and Alcaraz, both of whom were dreadful.27 February 2011 at 3:13 am #60535I’m with you Sammy – though I wouldn’t have picked on Alcaraz especially.

The real villians where Gohouri and Alcaraz, both of whom were dreadful.I’m not just basing it on today: it’s my opinion on him after the past handful of games he’s started in for us – personally I thought he was sub-par today, along with Alcaraz and Steve. Di Santo was ineffective today and McCarthy has had better days. I don’t really have many complaints about the rest of the team – Figueroa seemed really up for it and until Moses was replaced we were causing them some problems.
27 February 2011 at 3:33 am #60546I’m with you Sammy – though I wouldn’t have picked on Alcaraz especially.I thought Alcaraz was a fault for the second and third goals. For the second goal he wasn’t strong enough and lost a challenge he should won and for the third goal he was trying to play the offside trap in United’s half!
When you compare his performance with that of Vidic….. (I know, I know).27 February 2011 at 2:00 pm #60573Can somebody give me a good reason why he’s still in our starting XI? I think its the last in a loing line of failed tory policies, ginger quotas in top flight football. Untied had theirs yesterday !

You criticize his forward passing? So it’s nothing to do with a distinct lack of movement from such likes as Nzogbia, who was poor, and Moses then? Or maybe they were just well marked by a better class of opposition, eh? Corners? 90% of his corners were alright, yesterday. On the ball, he looked assured and composed. Best I’ve seen him, actually.
Thanks Sammy and Griff for backing up my theory on Watson. Our best player…..and yet he gets slated.

I thought he played well in that holding role and although he’s not as an effective “stopper” as Thomas, which left us exposed at the back at times, his distribution is far better.
I lost count the number of times he went forward with the ball looking for a pass with no movement ahead of him, so it invariably went sideways.27 February 2011 at 3:06 pm #60583Vat i think your on the wind up or your just a fool. watson was a load of pi.ssy wank in the match.his corner taking is a joke and if you think he had one of his best games for the latics then the men in white coats are going to be breaking down your door and taking you away!!. one corner he over hit ha ha ha ha . what about the other lame corners he took that never even beat the 1st man. his forward passing well a utd player just moped them up al day long. i don’t get you. your a enigma to me Dave!

27 February 2011 at 4:07 pm #60593For what its worth I thought Watson was by far our best player yesterday. OK a couple of bad corners as usual but he did try and address that by taking some short ones to the Zog. I lost count of the times he outwitted Paul Scholes only to find that not one blue shirt was in a position to receive the ball.
I totally agree that this indeed was one of BW’s best game for the tics along with the infamous Arsenal game last season. :clap:The white jacket should be presented to the person who even mentioned Hendry Thomas’s name in a positive way. That guy changes the whole shape of our team. Whilst being an OK at best defensive midfielder, he doesn’t know the meaning of forward pass. Perhaps he should get down to the DW today and listen to what the chubbies will be shouting every 5 mins in addition to offseed ref! :snooty:
