Been watching the tics since non league days and have to say that was the best display from a Wigan team I’ve seen. goodpost
Light-side – Dark-side, it doesn’t matter. Bobby has masterminded an absolute fekin top performance, tactics players, man for man we were absolutely superb.
I’m not going to gloat and put two fingers up to the Darksiders. What I’m going to say is, give the man a chance. He has finally got the team and tactics he has strived for.
That was a top Chelsea team and we have matched and beat them for football, skill, tactics the fekin lot. Well done Bobby, well done Whelan for sticking with the Spaniard. Probably not the best ever performance, but certainley the best this season.
I personally would start with Di Santo in place of Sammon on Wednesday.
I like the look of the 3 central defenders, but I would rather have Boyce in there and have Figueora as left back/wing back.
Dave Jones was ran ragged by Sturridge and I think Bellamy might cause him the same sort of problems.I think it was Robertos best performance of the season is not since he came back to the club, it was a complete performance for 90 minutes.
We never gave Chelsea a minute unlike against Arsenal were we just sat and watched them play.
Bellamy will cause problems but you just have to deal with them, every good team in this league have players like him.

What do ya reckon ?Fair shout Phil, however, ‘Figs’ still likes to drift into the centre of the defence (he needs to be conditioned out of this trait) which will mean our ‘attacking’ left wing will be dragged back further than he should – this, I believe, will leave us behind the ‘drag curve’ down the left side.
Everyone on point, as you described, would not be that bad (I still like Connor starting…he’s building in stature every game).
Sprinkle a little of that grit, determination and team ethic I saw yesterday….and we will prevail on Wednesday.

Or, with three centre backs, a left back (presumably a right back) and two up front – if you’re playing by the rules, that leaves you with three in midfield.
