There are so many fantastic memories. Who scored it and when?
3 May 2014 at 3:25 am #130588There are so many fantastic memories. Who scored it and when?If we stick to the Premier League and this season…to avoid a memory trip back to Goole in 1971
4th…Ryan Taylor (free kick) V Newcastle Boxing day (2006 or 7?)
3rd…Fig from half way line at Stoke
2nd…Zaki at Liverpool1st…Brilliant bullet header from a corner. Simply flew into the net. Forgotten who scored it or against whom ( ;) ). Think he looked a bit like Prince Harry if that’s any help.
So hard to pick though isn’t it. So many to choose from
3 May 2014 at 3:27 am #130589In terms of pure skill I’d go for Bobby’s goal v Scarborough in 1997. Still no idea how he did it
Run close by Simon Haworth’s equaliser v Gillingham in the 2000 play off final. Best goal Wembley has ever seen.In terms of emotion & impact on Latics history. Ben Watson in last years cup final.
2nd is Jason Roberts goal in the semi v Arsenal in 20063 May 2014 at 3:43 am #130590Or what about Charlie’s goal against Arsenal in 2010 to win 3-2 after being 2-0 down with 11 min to go?
“It’s unstoppable” as Alan Smith said.
Charlie slept very well that night…Wenger turned into a windmill and half the west Stand got their best exercise in years copying him
3 May 2014 at 3:47 am #130591Sir Andy scored a few belters.Geoff Davies diving header against Peterborough. The Graham Oates corner against Halifax.
David Lowe at Wembley against Brentford but Ben at Wembley still brings a tear of absoloute joy and allways will.3 May 2014 at 12:19 pm #130592I remember Gary Powell scoring a cracker at pneumonia park. Not sure of year or opponents.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!3 May 2014 at 1:43 pm #130595Yep remember that Powell goal as if it was yesterday he took all there defence on with a wonder dribble at the town end I think it was against Rotherham or chesterfield on a cold Tuesday night. Best goal from a corner goes to Paul cook
3 May 2014 at 4:23 pm #130600Jordi Gomez at Goodison in the Cup. Smooth build up play, beautiful ball across, and Jordi met it perfectly and hit it so sweetly – “passed it into the goal”.
3 May 2014 at 10:12 pm #130605There have been that many, it’s hard to single one out, but taking all emotion and importance out of the equation I remember Stan McEwan scoring a 40 yard thunderbolt at Sringfield Park which must be up there with the best.

Seem to remember it wasn’t the most memorable match. But while we’re willy waving, how about Billy Sutherland’s free kick against Port Vale, FA Cup 1st round 1969/70 or Jimmy Lynn’s back heel v Runcorn in one of the early season matches the year before and long before Jason’s at Deepdale.
Funny, but I can’t remember what I’ve had for my tea.
4 May 2014 at 3:05 am #130612Always remember tony kellys 30 yard free kick against bournemouth as one of my favourites.
4 May 2014 at 5:19 pm #130632Peter Haughton v Aston Villa League Cup.
4 May 2014 at 8:20 pm #130637Ian Gillibrand scoring a 45 yarder against Accrington Stanley in the Lancashire Junior Cup in 1977 was a corker.
6 May 2014 at 1:12 pm #130665Baines v Ipswich it was an absolute thunderbastard
