22 December 2010 at 10:03 pm #53834I seem to remember Chelsea fans saying exactly the same about Drogba in his first season – and they’d actually seen enough of him to form a reasoned opinion.
Not by any means saying Boselli is going to turn out the same way but at least give the guy a chance!22 December 2010 at 10:35 pm #53837Donnelly young man –
You came on here and freshened things up (debatable for some)
I admire your support and the fact you come over on occassions
But you have just gone from the sublime to the riddiculus re your last postHave you been on the Egg Nog over there?

We’ve all been whingeing that we have had no-one in this system that Martinez favours who can play that lone striker role; 1) holding up the ball, 2) bringing in the midfield and 3) banging in a few goals.
Well, it’s fair to say that we have had no-one who has done 3) on anything like a regular basis.
But, I would say that for the other two elements, in my opinion Scotland has been the best of the lot. We regularly looked more threatening as a team when he was playing. If only he had been able to hit a cow’s @rse with a banjo!
“Nurse, the screens!”
22 December 2010 at 11:23 pm #53842Under the system RM has been playing I agree with you Griff – (must be the Xmas sherry)
Having said that – to say Scotland was the best just goes to show that the budget / scouting / decision making in the last 18 months has been way off the mark and badly flawed

“Nurse, the screens!”Dear Griff, can I recommend a poem by Rudyard Kipling to you entitled “If”. If only to give you some form of solace.
Ha ha!!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog … ier-leagueI was hoping I could offer a link to the Guardians report on the more recent fixture between the two sides. But search and search through their sports pages as hard as I might, they don’t seem to have a report on it.
But the BBC do….
[link2:24cn5var]Tottenham V Wigan,http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/8946717.stm%5B/link2:24cn5var%5D
And looking at the final result, I’d say we’ve improved enormously if our results against Tottenham are the measurement by which the team should be judged.
Thought we were bleedin’ lucky meself though, ha ha!!

23 December 2010 at 11:25 pm #53910Roberto Martinez’s first priority needs to be extending the loan spell of Ali Al-Habsi. Bolton boss Owen Coyle has indicated he is unwilling to sell the goalkeeper but he has been the calming influence Latics needed at the back, and keeping him for the rest of the season is crucial.
They could do with a striker who scores goals too but Martinez will probably keep faith with what he has and pray one of Mario Boselli or Franco Di Santo suddenly realises where the net is.
However, if they continue to fail in front of goal, maybe Martinez will have his hand forced before the end of the month.
