miles off beam there fil – he will still be here next season AND even if he (Bob) offers his resignation the chairman will talk him out of it
now then – whats your take on that
My take is he should go if we stop up or not as in my opinion he has underachieved with what he has had to work with ! Just an opinion mind ![/quote]
So what should he have acheived ? =/
we are still here job done!!
24 March 2012 at 5:26 pm #83932I am not getting sucked into all that again !! As Griff mentioned its not as if I aint said it before ! If you see 19th place with 25 goals and no home win in 7 months as a success story after only just surviving last season then fair enough ! I don’t !
24 March 2012 at 5:45 pm #83933Pointless interview and an even more pointless statement. Why even mention sacking him ? That window passed a while ago .What you didnt see MR B was the question what was asked? if it was “would you consider sacking the manager” then all Mr Whelans comments in that clip make sense, no?
24 March 2012 at 5:47 pm #83934You’re the one who brought it up fella.
Just think to say we have underacheived there must be a “bar” set by your standards…
Dont get me wrong I think after three years in charge we should be finishing a bit further up the table but every year we stay up allows us to keep players like Moses who have the ability to take us to that next level.
Rome was not built in a day and 3 years is not a ridiculous amount of time to give to a manager with very little resources.
With a sensible head on 3 years should be the minimum for a manager in that situation.
Of course if Martinez was spending money like Bruce was when he was here (then bitching that he didnt have enough) I would expect much quicker results.
Dont mean to be as repetetive as you Fil but I’ve said before if Martinez had the money Burce did he could probably sign the likes of Jermain Defoe!
When you comapre that to a 500k Irish striker that had scored 33 goals in 150 appearences at a range of ridiculously lower levels you can once again gather a bit of perspective in setting your demands of Wigan Athletic and Roberto.
24 March 2012 at 6:08 pm #83937I brought it up because Teabag Head asked what my take on it was ! I tend to look at the full picture of the 7 season stay and that RM was brought in to maybe improve on what Bruce had achieved or at least maintain it and in my opinion we have regressed since then !
24 March 2012 at 6:14 pm #83938We lost seven out of our last ten games under Bruce while only winning one…
We were clearly a team in decline under Bruce and he knew it too.

Hence RM being brought in to improve on that or at least steady the ship but that has not happened or have I missed something ? Like I said its only my opinion and I have never been one for constantly calling for his head but I do vent my spleen as you well know ! Again this is just an opinion and obviously the opposite of yours but we all have our own prerogatives !!
24 March 2012 at 7:20 pm #83941We lost seven out of our last ten games under Bruce while only winning one…We were clearly a team in decline under Bruce and he knew it too.
But he did have the backbone of his team sold from under him in January, debilitating, demoralising and the ambitions and future workings of the club were set out right there and then.

24 March 2012 at 11:07 pm #84001You can have your opinion but I’ll keep mine ,as I think he has achieved very little in 3 yrs .If Whelan was asked the question then it was pointless giving the answer he did.
