14 November 2010 at 1:43 am #51006They must of change the style for a change, jobsworths are mainly watching the young uns, stewards sh@t the selves many moons back when Millwall came in the playoffs, they wernt giving it the ten men im big attitude then, they were hideing behind the Police.

The strategy was to have a line of police (in riot gear) to deal with the Millwall lot, and then a line of stewards behind to prevent any stray Latics fans who may have fancied a “do-or-die” raid.
If they’re told to do it then it’s not fair to say they were “hiding” behind the police.
As for me? I was extremely brave, behind the tunnel door – because we were told to keep that shut no matter what. ;)
14 November 2010 at 3:12 am #51017A steward at Brentford once put himself out for me and unlocked a gate so I could get myself a Brentford enamel badge. He walked me to the club shop waited outside while I bought my memento then kindly escorted me back through the home crowd and back into the away end again. True gent
15 November 2010 at 2:12 am #51056Just for your info Landgate it was I who found your wallet
Walking up the steps in the East after entering the ground, guess you dropped it after coming through the turnstilles
So I handed it to the female steward who was stood by the disabled toilet on the concourse

Talking of stewards, it made me chuckle remembering the united title end of season game. The week after at work my mate, a United fan, was telling me that at the end of the game the United fans outside , him included, stormed the west stand to see United raise the trophy.
As one of the first, he was chased by a steward down the West stand concourse. The steward then chased him into and out of the toilets 3 times. My mate swears it was like a Benny Hill sketch.
The steward finally caught him and pinned him down pleased as punch until the head steward pointed out the United fans were being let in anyway.
I said good on the steward, he was probably just practising for his game of rugby the next day. :P
