27 December 2012 at 3:45 pm #98693Forest manager gone too after 5 months.
Blackburn’s greatest loss will be the same as ours was – the loss of Eric Black, an excellenet second-in-command.

Are you saying Whelan isn’t ruthless? There’s an awful lot of people, a number on this board, who from personal experience wouldn’t agree with you. I’m afraid your comment shows a lack of understanding of business management.
Being “ruthless” alone doesn’t guarantee success. What is needed is a clear focus of where you want to be, getting the personnel in who can deliver your vision, taking action when necessary to alter the situation to get things going in the right direction. The ruthlessness comes in actually doing some of those things – to get the right personnel in may mean sacking someone or to get things going in the right direction may mean shutting a number of shops or changing supplier etc.
Just sacking an underling (ie the manager and his staff) without a clear replacement who will genuinely deliver your vision when the predecessor wasn’t given any time to put other parts of the plan in place is not ruthless (well, it is, but not with any purpose), just desperation.
DW for me every time.

Did whehlan not show ambition in getting us to the premier league, and from what i can see all they have done is pull the wool over the rovers fans eyes, what ambition have thy shown………. oh yeah that was it they where signing ronaldinho or did they mean ronald macdonald. They havent done anything yet that they said they would only make blackburn more unstable27 December 2012 at 6:11 pm #98706I think Mr Doe had his tongue firmly in his cheek when he posted that, of I’m not very much mistaken.
28 December 2012 at 2:05 am #98712Blackburn should have made Black their manager then they could have had some ” Black-Out ” tee shirts made up 6 games later !
28 December 2012 at 5:48 pm #98718The circus continues, some bollywood star linked now, there saying hes not hes just a guest at the club, so why turn up in a rovers track suit
28 December 2012 at 6:38 pm #98719Berg was quoted as saying after Steve Kean was sacked “no self respecting manager would take that job”
A week later he took the job
28 December 2012 at 6:47 pm #98720They are now quoting that the Bollywood ‘star’ is doing some FA training badge, and understands the game from being an arsenal trainee. This will be the end for rovers. They might make it into a movie, loads of dancing and bad dubbing.
28 December 2012 at 7:18 pm #98721I think this was the beginning of the end for BR

enough saidUrgh – I musn’t bite, I mustn’t bite, I musn’t…oh sod it
No ambition? Hmm…4th tier to top tier in 10 years
Sell your best – been doing that long before DW; only sure fire revenue stream
No new fans – Hmm…avg attendances of c1800 to c18000 in 10 years
Not learning – isn’t that more the manager’s responsibility?
Parachutes – a drop in the ocean compared to £ staying upI’m certainly no Whelan sycophant, but depending on how you measure success you could argue that over the last 20 years we’d have a strong case of being one of the most successful clubs in Europe if not the world…and much of it down to, for the most part, sensible (if not ruthless) decisions of one man.
