Why is Whelan sounding off when he obviously doesn’t have a clue about what’s going on? Very annoying, try and keep him not push him out the door!
26 May 2012 at 2:40 pm #88083like i said before
whelan seems to be trying his best to big bobby up and get rid
is it because he couldn’t sack him because bob showed loyalty by staying last year
but now is the chance to get rid in a more decent way26 May 2012 at 2:59 pm #88084like i said before

but now is the chance to get rid in a more decent wayOK, I’ll ask the obvious then.
Why would he want to get rid of him?
26 May 2012 at 3:04 pm #88085I think he would want to get rid of him for the compensation he would get from Liverpool. He would then try to get in an unattached manager. Money made. The fact he says he wants to stay around for 4 more years is interesting. Does he want to stay as he expects us to get relegated next year then he can pick up the parachute money for the next 3 years in the Championship which would prove more profitable than the Premierleague money as he would be paying out much less in wages??
The fact that Whelan is effectively pushing Martinez out the door is very aggravating. That could be making Roberto’s mind up about the move when he could of been unsure.
26 May 2012 at 3:21 pm #88086Maybe Whelan needs to find a replacement so needs to know what is going on sooner rather than later ..
Martinez has been offered the job with conditions ..
Does he take it ?
Maybe ..26 May 2012 at 3:28 pm #88087way i see it
before the last nine games or so of the season we where awfull it was only when whelan intervened and had bobby in the office that results improved and change of formation helped plus having maloney back in the team after him being absent before that taking into account him not being fit and carrying a injury
no matter what whelan says on tv there is something more behind the scenes
whelan would rather see bob leave on is own accord than sack him
yes we finished well but we would only be in same boat next season
maybe just maybe whelan may have plans already in place26 May 2012 at 3:42 pm #88088This board is riddled with conspiracy theorists!
26 May 2012 at 3:45 pm #88089Why is Whelan sounding off when he obviously doesn’t have a clue about what’s going on? Very annoying, try and keep him not push him out the door!So you would sooner believe what some poxy liverpool rag “believe to be true” rather than our own bleedin chairman?
I think many fans and media are only picking up on what they want to hear from Dave Whelan.
Whilst bumming him up big style, which you would expect him to do being that such big clubs are interested in him and he actually believes in the guy, he always includes in his statements that he would love to keep him at Wigan.
That’s enough for me and I am hanging on to those words hoping he might stay, rather than getting myself all aggravated that Whelan is singing Bobby’s praises in order to get rid of him. Utter bollux! :angry:Have people forgot that DW has said from day one that he would not stop in Bobby’s way if a big club come knocking on the door for him and like the gentleman he is, he is sticking to his words. OK the opportunity has come a lot sooner than we, DW and even Bobby himself had anticipated, but it as and we have to deal with it.
There will be life at Wigan Athletic long after Bobby, DW and us current fans have gone, so for the time being lets just see what happens. B)From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!26 May 2012 at 6:35 pm #88095I think Dave hopes, by putting time pressure on Liverpool, that they will turn around and not appoint Martinez, as they have said since the beginning that they will not be rushed on their next appointment.
It puts us in the best position. If he was always going to go then it happens fast and we get time to pick a new manager. If it never was a certainty then time pressure might just put the scousers off.
