Just read yet more quotes from kaiser dave, regarding the ‘inevitable’ departure of Roberto Martinez.
No doubt he has alot of tactical knowhow, and he’s done a remarkable job here, with very limited resources, and at 38 years of age, he’s got the potential to be one of the top managers in the not too distant future.
So where do we think he’ll go, and who would be a suitable replacement, it’ll be a shame if he doesn’t build on what he’s done so far, as i think we’re now seeing over the last few months, just what this team he’s assembled is capable of, but i think he’ll go, and i think 99% of supporters will be sad to see that happen.
He’ll be leaving on a high though, the guy is a winner, because survival for a club like Wigan is like winning the european cup for a utd or a barca.
30 April 2012 at 3:26 am #86214I’ve not read the quotes you’re referring to, but if he’s saying that Roberto leaving us is inevitable, then he’s right, isn’t he?
It’s inevitable I will get older, it’s inevitable Coronation Street will have a last episode, it’s inevitable whatever whatever. Unless he’s put a timescale on it he’s just saying that at some stage he will leave, and presumably he is saying he will move on to a “bigger club”.
Hopefully not just yet. The word I hear is that he doesn’t consider his job is done yet. Not just to develop the team, but also the whole infrastructure of development teams through the age groups and in building the training facilities.
30 April 2012 at 3:36 am #86216it was on five live sportsweek, and he was asked about bobby and said that he wouldn’t stand in his way if he was approached this summer, as you say, it is inevitable, just a question of when, and it is only my opinion that he will go, i hope he doesn’t as i think he’s got alot more to give to this club, but if he does, where do you think his talent will take him, and who do you think could do a job here and carry on the good work?
30 April 2012 at 4:19 am #86221Well if tomorrows ‘front pages’ are to be believed then it wont be to replace that ‘brown envelope’ shifting shyster at Spurs.
(off topic – I would love Hodgson to bump Redknapp to the England managers job)
30 April 2012 at 4:37 am #86222I wouldn’t be surprised if twitcher has swerved the job Micky, which is why the FA have approached Hodgson.
Redknapp won’t be interested, there’s no transfers in international football, so no back handers either! And all his pay will go through the books, so whats the point eh? Doing a high pressure job like that for a measly 4 or 5 million a year, he’d be like someone with parkinsons and tourettes being electrocuted when we were 3-0 down against belarus ;)30 April 2012 at 4:59 am #86223That’s quite an entertaining picture you paint of the situation and there will be more spin on this story than the clowns bow tie……and exactly how a man who can’t send an e-mail, read, write, say his own name, identify a phone can be even considered to run the national squad is beyond be – he has more ‘luggage’ than Terminal 5 at Heathrow.
Much still to be said in the corridors of the Illuminati though, me thinks ;)
30 April 2012 at 5:05 pm #86256He will stay with us for another year. Arsenal will do nothing again and Wenger will depart on the basis that he has taken the club as far as he can and Bobby will take over.
Dave Whelan should use his contacts with Old Red Nose and get Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from Molde (where he won their league last year in his first year of management – albeit with a relatively [by Norwegian football] big budget funded by a Norwegain Dave Whelan).

He’s far too tainted with scandal for them.
I actually fear for Hodgson if he does get the job. The London media decided long ago that Redknapp was the man and if Roy beats him to it then he’s a couple of bad results from being crucified.
As for Bob , he could be on the verge of something special here – It would have to be something really big to make him leave in the summer.
Your works not done here yet Bob , there’s plenty of time to manage Arsenal or Barcelona in the future.30 April 2012 at 5:38 pm #86260He will stay with us for another year. A Norwegian Dave Whelan, now that is an entertaining picture!
Did he play in the 1957 norwegian cup final and break his leg, or does he not like to talk about it!
And did he have to piss on his hands to keep warm? It’s cold in that there Norway!30 April 2012 at 5:51 pm #86262May be it was a too metaphorical comparison. He was the founder of the Engineering multinational company Kvaener, so one suspects that he was not selling bog rolls on Molde market.

Now this is an intersting post (and believable to me).
