I have been today and we made a very poor Bolton side look good. The team were awful but Bob’s substitutions were absolute rank how do Gomez and Scotland get a game they are absolute shoite. And why at 4-0 down do you bring on a defensive midfielder????

Come on Martinez supporters explain to me cause I just don’t get it I don’t claim to be a football manager but some of his decisions are laughable

I agree 100%, and though in danger of being mocked, I wouldn’t make as bad decisions as Martinez did on a computer game. That was f**king abysmal today. In 25 seasons of watching, it has to be a lowlight.

I’ll have a go at it:

So, at 4-0 down with twelve minutes left to go, do you think he should leave all the attacking players on and hope we can get four goals and force a draw? I suppose it is only a goal every three minutes, so it’s probably worth the risk eh? Or, do you concede defeat and take your top goal scorer off to prevent him from getting injured.

Gomez has been poor this season, but was outstanding in the Championship. Martinez obviously sees potential in him. Scotland is hit or miss. I personally think he has had some decent games, and is a useful member of the squad.

I personally don’t think Scotland will be at the club after the summer. Gomez will be, but may be bit-part player.

If he’s a useful member of the squad, why don’t you think he’ll be here after the summer?

Re: The Gómez and Scotland substitutions – it’s not necessarily the ability of the players that will change things, but how they play and the change in system that they impose which the manager must consider.

Gómez provides creativity through the middle, and I admit, it’s not ideal that he’s the best we have at doing that (I said as soon as we signed him that he’s not that good) but he is, so if Bobby feels that’s what is needed, options are scrace and so Gómez gets a game.

Scotland provides bulk up front – similar to Gómez, it’s not perfect (he’s not that good) but again he’s the best at providing that given our limited options so if Bobby wants to bring some of that style of play into the game, then Scotland is the obvious choice.

I think both are decent squad players, but neither are good enough to warrant starting for us – it’s 50/50 for me as to whether they’ll be here next season.
