Hits or Misses My Opinion
Hits
McCarthy Undoubtedly
Diame At times been class
Caldwell brought a bit of much needed stability
Reserving judjement On
Moses Simply not seen enough of him could prove to be quality
Moreno Tries hard but could he be the goalscorer we need
Gohouri As of Moses simply not seen enough of to form a positive opinion, fitness obviously been a problem
Misses
Scotland Obviously not the goalscorer we need
Gomez Prem League so far been One Step Beyond
Thomas Nowhere near Prem League class
Stoikovic No more need to be said
Sinclair Complete waste of a loan signing we’ll never know whether he could have made it not played enough, what do you think.8 April 2010 at 2:21 am #28974McCarthy – Not bad but painfully slow.
Diame – One of only two flair players we have.
Caldwell – Good signing. Prone to odd rash challenge and howler but steady and has a canny knack of nicking a goal when he goes forward.
Moses – Agree, not seen enough.
Moreno – Not Premiership standard. Always looks busy but with very little effect. Big lad like him should really be throwing his weight around but wins very little in the air and easily pushed over.
Gohouri – Not seen enough.
Scotland – Could have been a cult hero but ultimately not good enough. 10/10 for endeavour though.
Gomez – Not Premiership standard.
Thomas – Started really well but gone downhill since.
Stoikovic – If he’s third choice keeper for Serbia, I want to see the ones below him.
Sinclair – Not good enough. If he was, he wouldn’t be on loan at Wigan.
8 April 2010 at 2:26 am #28975McCarthy wasnt one of RM’s signings was he ??
8 April 2010 at 2:27 am #28977In fact neither was Thomas !
8 April 2010 at 2:32 am #28981McCarthy wasnt one of RM’s signings was he ??I think Thomas was a done deal before Martinez arrived, but I’m sure McCarthy was a Martinez signing.
Wasn’t he scouted as a result of RM’s contacts from his playing days in the SPL, and was lured on the promise of first team involvement?
Agree with most comments regarding the various player – except, McCarthy isn’t that slow. He’s too slow to play out wide, but he’s a central midfielder, and holds his own there.

Got to agree with your opinion on Moreno.Looks the part big time South American Striker!if Bob shows the same faith in him as Scottie then God help us whichever league were in next season
8 April 2010 at 11:55 am #29021…except, McCarthy isn’t that slow. He’s too slow to play out wide, but he’s a central midfielder, and holds his own there.Holds his own? Well, he wants to cut that out right now, the dirty get. :o
No wonder he’s slow. ;)
8 April 2010 at 12:44 pm #29025Bobby deffo signed McCarthy, and deffo signed Thomas Bruce may have lined him up last year, but because he hadnt played enough internationals, couldnt sign him, when he had reached the required number Bobby signed him , Filmoss check your facts before replying, also forgot about Amaya, another miss in my humble opinion, so unfortunatley for me, in his 1st 2 transfer windows, too many misses not enough hits.

I think he’s classed as a holding midfielder.8 April 2010 at 3:04 pm #29042Think I’ve done this before but what the hell, I’ll do it again:
McCarthy – still relatively early doors but looks a hit
Caldwell – as above
Diame – Capable of looking great one game & total pig swill the next. If he sorts out his consistancy he’s gonna be a good un
Thomas – Tackles alot but that’s about it so its a miss from me
Moses – not yet considered “ready” by Bobby so would have to be considered a miss so far seeing as how valuable transfer budget was used in a relegation battle to sign someone who wouldn’t be playing
Moreno – Is growing into the premier league game by game but looks like he’d rather lay it off than have a go himself so I’d say a miss so far
Gohouri – Another Bobby signing who “isn’t ready” so a miss
Scotland – Miss
Gomez – Miss
Sinclair – Miss
Stojkovic – Miss
Amaya – Miss -
