From a Bolton fan trying to locate the Wigan fan that helped in his time of need……….
Way too often we criticise fans for their behaviour at games, so I thought it would be nice to send my appreciation of an unknown Wigan supporter after the game v Bolton Tuesday night.
After the match you will be aware of the chaos in town as we got to the Train Station. As things began to calm down my blood sugars (type 2 diabetic) dropped very quickly so I went into a nearby shop to purchase some chocolate and water.
After explaining to some fans inside the shop I was allowed to get to the front in order to pay for the items with my card. As I got to the front I was met with “Card only” I explained that I had no card on me and only had cash and that I was diabetic, once again to be met with “Card Only” by the shop keeper. It is at this point that a Wigan supporter intervened informing the shop keeper of his disgust of how I had been dealt with and that he would pay the £1.65 charge.
I was so grateful to the unknown fan because if I hadn’t of taken on board the water and chocolate I would have gone into a Hypo and collapsed.
I know it may be a needle in a haystack but just wanted to put it out there & pass on my thanks to the unknown supporter.

That’s a nice little story to read, just goes to show most Wigan, Bolton and folk in general are decent.
