14 June 2013 at 9:23 pm #116187And what’s all this rowlocks that he can’t keep the players fit?
They’re professionals – they should be keeping themselves fit, not having a quick fag when teacher isn’t watching. Maybe it’s the Bolton players who needed to sort themselves out, and maybe with that attitude it’s no wonder they failed.
14 June 2013 at 10:56 pm #116199So Lee and Mears suffered broken legs. That shows Coyle was careless – no wonder Bolton sacked him.
Watson and Stam both broke a leg last season. And we’ve got a new manager too.
Oh – it’s Coyle. Keep that plaster of Paris handy!

What a journey!15 June 2013 at 12:42 pm #116234I was talking a long serving Bolton fan and he said even though Coyle had the club at heart he dismantled virtually everything at Bolton behind the scenes i.e Backroom staff , youth ,etc before they got shut.
I just hope Whelan keeps a beady eye on him and his training methods. Sometimes pushing players too hard in training especially with a long season ahead can lead to the physio’s bench been full.
15 June 2013 at 2:19 pm #116244Whelan does have a clear long-term plan for the club. I assume that he has explained this to Coyle and asked him to work within it.
But Wigan too had a disastrous season for injuries last season. Was that simply misfortune or a fault with the training and phsiotherapy regimes? I don’t think you can blame the staff for broken legs.
Coyle faced a difficult situation the season Bolton went down. He lost Elmander and Sturridge from the season before, and didn’t – or perhaps couldn’t afford to – replace them. Holden suffered a long term injury in pre-season training, and then Lee and Mears suffered broken legs.
They faced very difficult opening league fixtures which set them back. Cahill left for Chelsea in January. Then came the Muamba incident which must have affected everyone at the club.
So Coyle had now lost seven first team players – that’s the majority of his team. Even so, Bolton fought on and were not relegated until the last day of the season.
15 June 2013 at 3:58 pm #116251Totally agree with that.
