Wilson examined the latest accounts available at Companies House of 11 Super League clubs, and discovered that they had a cumulative debt of more than £60m.
“The overall effect of that is that the league itself will struggle for finance. Using a term like ‘Rugby League is staring at the financial abyss’ is not too harsh a thing to say,” he continued

Just thought that bit of news might get you a bit excited.
Their doing their usual trick over on chubbyland and other sites. comparing RL debt to footballs!!!!
a bit of advise chubsters….football is galaxies bigger than RL ever will be….we can manage and stay afloat (£3bn new deal)…..How can RL survive when your getting peanuts into the coffers every year!!!
interesting to note that the programme the other night was only shown BBC yorkshire, north west and for some bizarre reason BBC lincolnshire. Glad to see RL has spread it’s wings after 140 odd years
That merger with union is ever closer…pimms please rupert, theres a good squire….
RU – can one get that fellow on side please sir.
RL – gerrum on bleedin side ref, ya pillock.
In between your w@nk fest, think about it logically:
No Rugby Team = Less revenue to Whelco in terms of rent, refreshments etc.
Operating Costs for DW Stadium need to be paid by someone. Only one occupant left to contribute.
Ticket costs go up, as costs cannot be covered by any other way.
Crowds drop due to increased ticket costs, just like they did in 2007/8.
Like it or not, having the DW used by two clubs for 32 days a year, rather than one club with 19 days is financially more beneficial to the Stadium Management Company.

Nobody said we wouldn’t let you continue to rent the stadium when you starting playing rugby union.
Only danger for us on that score is if the RFU ask you to merge with St Helens and you move to play union from their ground.
fair play conroy, at least there is a rugger fan albeit dual fan (both teams) who actually can see the state of the game……it’s a tough game, i agree, but the other chubsters that you sit among’st are deluded and living a lie. Senile and stuck in a time warp, the sooner they smell the coffee the better it will be for them and may aide their faltering village game and stop it merging with the much bigger, globally, rugby union
p.s. all games sold out months in advance for the 6 nations which start next week……good luck with scotland v ireland in RLWC2013 at bristol city FOOTBALL CLUB…or where ever they play their games

RU market their game far better on the International stage, but their club crowds are actually smaller than RL crowds in the main. There’s only really Leicester who regularly beat RL attendances.
