Horrific scenes in the Wigan Athletic changing room after their surprise defeat at home to relegation rivals Sunderland. A reporter said to have heard an argument between Wigan defenders Ivan Ramis and Emmerson Boyce. Ramis watched the game from the bench as was out injured. Tempers flaired between the two shortly after the game had finished with Ramis criticising Boyce’s performance. Latics midfielder James McArthur had to step in as the pair squared up in a fierce confrontation.
Roberto Martinez denied any rift. Wigan Athletic are in turmoil at the moment with Boyce and Ramis being two of Wigan’s most inspiring players.
Ivan Ramis 28, joined Wigan Athletic from Mallorca in the summer and has settled down into an established centre back with an eye for goal netting on 3 occasions.Emmerson Boyce now at 33 is a significant player at Wigan and has been labelled as one of the most consistent defenders in the league by gaffer Martinez. Boyce has made 22 appearances netting twice. Boyce joined Wigan in 2006 from Crystal Palace and has not looked back since.
Boyce has been linked with an exit this month with the likes of Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Southampton and Wolves expressing their interest in the Barbados international. Alex McLeish is an admirer of the full back stating that “Boyce is one of the best around and would be an asset to the club”. Could you see a dramatic Boyce exit.
