SKIPPER Emmerson Boyce says the attitude at training this week has been ‘first class’ as Wigan Athletic look to get their campaign back on track.

Latics signed off for the international break in dismal fashion, crashing 3-1 at Bolton in a performance described by Uwe Rosler as ‘embarrassing’.

With a fortnight to lick their wounds, Boyce has been encouraged by the reaction the players have shown.

“Everyone was disappointed with the result at Bolton, and the second-half performance in particular,” he told the Evening Post.

“We know we can do better as a team and we’re determined to make up for it. The players have worked very hard this week, everyone’s come in with the right attitude to put things right.

“The response has been first class. The manager had his say, and we need to get on with it and look forward to the next game.

“We need to prove him wrong and it’s up to us all to pull together and come through it.

“At Wigan we’ve always won as a team and lost as a team, and that’s the way it will always be.

“We know the club and the fans deserve better, and we need everyone working together to achieve that.”

The 35-year-old is back in full training after overcoming an ankle injury.
